Why is Katsidis v Diaz only 10 rounds ?

Why? No title will be at stake.

 

It on T.V isnt it? The main event of that particular card?

Its a fight against two of the best in the division, I would have expected it to be over 12 and often fights at this level have non-title 12 rounders.

That being said this could help Mick (but then again it might not), Diaz is a proven campaigner in the longer fights and Rocky is more of a sprinter than a stayer.

If anything i agree with WhataRock, it def suits Katsidis that the fight is a 10 rounder.
I doubt it will go that far tho.

As much as I hate to admit it, IMO the smart money is Diaz via points decision.
I even think Rocky can win on points by just bashing Diaz and negating his workrate with power (easier said than done though). Juan is pretty strong and pretty tough, he took a little bit of punishment against Nate and has stood up to some decent punchers.

 

The only reason it would've been a 12 rounder is if there was a title at stake or it was an eliminator for one.

You see the headline bout on that card, that wasn't an eliminator for anything. Bouts like that aren't particulary common, merely because of the amount of trinkets that go around nowdays which make most 12 round fights 'title' fights. However they are permitted and Katsidis and Diaz is the type of contest you would expect to be 12 rounds regardless of titles.

The loser of that bout(Yuri Romanov) is starting to become a pretty serious player in the Lightweight division. I felt he should of got the decision that night and if he hadn't of been so rusty he surely would of stopped Earl.
Nevertheless he has come back from that and is one of the men Frank Warren fears most in as far as being an Amir Khan opponent goes.

 

I agree the 10 rds definately will favour Kats than Diaz. I think it will be a war whilst it lasts but I think people overlook how good a fighter the baby bull is, no disrespect to Kats who continues to step up everytime win or lose, he is mixing it with the best in the world & all props to him for this. I hope he finds a way to win but the Diaz is one tough, experienced fighter.

 

This one will be lucky to go ten rounds. Katsidis will have to tighten up his defence a HELL of a lot more. He is going to eat a lot of leather.

I love Katsidis as a fighter, but i think its time to face the music guys, he just has a crap chin.

I rate his chin as about level with Mundine and Judahs. Difference being those guys are LEAGUES better defensively than Kat.
