why is kelly pavlik dis-liked so much

I am a fan of Kelly Pavlik, but after the handling of the PW situation, all the hates he gets is well deserved.
Pulling out of a fight because of an injury, and then scheduling another fight with a tomato can just 2 weeks after the cancelled fight? I like Pav, but it`s impossible to argue against that. No matter how you look at it, it looks like Ducking, even if it was not.

 

If you were a fan, you would know the facts.

First, and recently discovered, Pavlik signed to fight on Dec. 5. Williams did not. How is that a duck? Remember the first time Williams pulled out and people say it didn't count because there was no signed contract? Does this work both ways? In fact it is Williams that didn't sign BOTH times. So who was ducking?

Second. After WILLIAMS declined to sign the contract or grant a two week extension, it was WILLIAMS that singed to fight Martinez instead of waiting. No one is blaming him. THEN the orgs told Pavlik to fight by years end or be stripped. The whole affair was hastily and clumsily put together to add him to a Latin Fury card ONLY to keep him from being stripped. Given his medical condition he should have been allowed more time. I guess the ABC's needed Christmas graft too badly and was pissed off they weren't getting a cut of a Pavlik/Williams purse.

Geez. This is simple stuff yet.....

 

Hopkins is a better fighter....no doubt...But that doesn't take away from the fact that Pavlik @ 100% makes a better showing.....there's nothing wrong with that line of thinking....Pavlik is a proud fighter.....And I can't fault him for that....

first of all u are an *******..yes kelly was sick and thats why he did so bad but if kelly was 100% i dont even think he would of fxxxked hopkins up..hopkins is a unbelievable fghter and i realy cant see too many fighters beating him that night...hopkins looked amazing that night..and no he does not need another trainer..

pavlik is a likeable guy, he did get humbled by hopkins, but whats so bad about being humbled by an atg up 2 weight classes, pavlik is a limited fighter in terms of technical skill however his power and physical and mental toughness have overcome those limitations, there are two types of people that hate on pavlik on this site, people whom are genuinely frustrated with his mismanagement and underacchieving middleweight title reign, which i cannot fault them for, but then theres the people that simply hate him because he is a white champion, the same people that hate calzaghe and hate the klitshko brothers, some people simply cannot seperate there racial bias from making decisions about how talented a fighter is. Honestly my favorite fighter is floyd mayweather, because in terms of true boxing skill, hes the best, unfortunately others on this site simply elect favorite fighters who closely resemble themselves

 

heres how stupid and ****ed up u are...the part of him being drunk and violent towards a cop---thats night an off duty cop had beer muscles and told pavlik he was too loud in the bar to leave,and pavlikasked why he had to leave and no one else ( u know bar=noise=loud voices= music..) had to..the cop started to get pissy and got in pavliks face told him to leave again and kelly said if everyone else does.. well the OFF DUTY COP sprayed pavlik in the face with pepper spray.. now u idiot if pavlik was in the wrong then why did the charges get dropped and pavlik not get in trouble..and as far as his brother getting in trouble, what does that have to do with kelly.. Mostly everyone thought Calzaghe was ducking Lacy 3 times but when those 2 finally happen, Calzaghe destroyed Lacy who was undefeated in that time by a shut out. Who ever think Pavlik can ko or tko Calzaghe is a ******ED IDIOT!!!!! I personally hate Calzaghe but he would have easily beat Pavlik with his speed and movement. And Pavlik has shown that he don't have the power at supermiddleweight then he is now at mw.

 

Man i swear to god hermit is one of the biggest ****** in esb right up there with "pavlik is champ" Williams signed to fight Pavlik twice in oct and december but it WAS PAVLIK THAT POSTPONED THE FIGHT 2 TIMES IN A ****ING ROW. THE FIRST POSTPONEMENT WAS A DAY BEFORE THE PRESS CONFERENCE. THE SECOND POSTPONEMENT WAS 2 WEEKS AFTER THE PRESS CONFERENCE FOR THE DECEMBER 5TH. BUT FUNNY AFTER WILLIAMS VS MARTINEZ WAS SIGNED, ALL OF A SUDDEN PAVLIK IS SIGNED TO FIGHT 2 WEEKS LATER? AFTER HE SAID HE ALMOST DIE? There's always going to be annoying fans as long as you're one of the bigger names in the sport.

Most of the criticism/dislike has to do with his title reign at middleweight, which was been very dissapointing. The most intriguing fights that people want to see at MW involving Pavlik have not materialized.

If Pavlik fights Williams next and beats him, which I think he will, then you'll see a lot of opinions on him change.

 

atsch It wasn't "ALL OF A SUDDEN", They asked for the extension, Team Williams didn't want to wait two weeks, each did their own thing. And they didn't "ALMOST DIE" just before they signed the fight. Seems like that is what you are suggesting, since you mentioned it there.

I don't know, it surprises me he's so disliked now. He was universally adored prior to Hopkins. Is that what it is, the guy loses and suddenly thats it? Is that how fickle people are..I hope not.

I was never a fan of his but I'm finding myself rooting for him just because he gets **** for no real reason. He's entertaining to watch and he's not a **** either so the reason passes me by.
