To me, this fight is like Enzo/Frenkel, and i made money on that one too. Worst possible opponent for khan, bookies are blinded by recent wins over hand picked opposition, in meaningless fights. conclusion, Maidana by Brutal ko.
I was ready to jump all over this thread, but i do see where your coming from to a point. The Fight obviously is far different to Enzo's stylistically. Enzo was far more fragile mentally then Khan is going into this. Khan won't engage his opponent like Enzo did. Khan is the favorite because fact is stylistically he has a lot of weapons that will bother Maidana but in the words of PK Maidana has ''The Equalizer'' and that's why it's so intriguing.
I really like Amir, and i enjoy his fights, for me though, maidana has to be the favorite, not saying khan can't win, but if your betting on amir you'd want better odds than the bookies are offering, its an incredibly risky investment putting money on him in this one.
Khan hasn't been in with a puncher since Prescott (not including Barrera) the question is how will he react when Maidana lands a solid shot on him
I fancy khan in this, i feel he will have to come through a lot of hairy moments, possibly even eat canvas, but i just fancy him to put on a clinic. The fight will be a super tense one for Khan supporters until it is over. Concentration is key for Amir, something i think he has developed with Roach.
I am split. I do think Khan can put on a clinic and stop Maidana mid to late. But it really only takes one clean shot IMO to end it for Khan. I don't see any "hairy moments" with him being dropped and then still winning. If he is dropped it means Maidana landed and with his power it is curtains, because even if Khan gets up it will be in a daze like the Prescott fight and not like pulling himself up off the floor from a cuffing shot by Gomez or the punches from Limmond. He might be wobbled by glancing shots or even ones coming through the gloves, but if Maidana lands clean the fight is over. But I think Maidana will eat a lot of punches and be countered as he gets more desperate. Khan late TKO or UD. But I wont be putting money on it.
just got afeeling in this fight that khan is going to outpoint maidana by a massive margin.i think the prescott loss really taught him some good lessons.he really got his act together after that fight.he knows maidana is a banger and this will concerntrate his mind wonderfully on getting in,getting off and getting out.maybe not 120-108 i'll grant you but i can envisage him only dropping a few rounds worst case. either that or get knocked cold!!!but in all seriousness, his whiskers are what makes this a fascinating fight for me at least.
Agree, Enzo got knocked out, not just cause he has a shaky chin, but because he fights too aggressively and leaves spots for himself to be countered, even when he tries to counter he tries to load up.
I actually think Maidana's the favourite here. Khan's defence isn't developed enough to protect his chin for the full 12 rounds. Maidana will get through at some point. And when he does, Khan will crumble.
The big question for Khan is can he not get hit flush by Maidana throughout the course of the fight. Not even once. If he can do that he wins. I don't think he can.
