Why is Kovalev less liked than Stevenson ?

    He's a role model and isn't a disgrace to the sport with constant fooling ( rios, maidana just to name a few actual ... ) or someone who act like a clown ( brigg, fury ... ), Kovaled paid Roman Sinakov's parents the airplanes tickets so they could come see their son's big fight, he died 3 days later after a 7 round TKO that had him in the hospitals ... he gave them his next fight money and even went to church with his wife while Roman was in coma to pray for him.

    This guy's a model boxer.

    He gave his first lost to a good boxer in Nathan Cleverly, beat a former WBA light heavyweight champion in Campillo in only 3 rounds.

    Overall, his record is pretty solid, most of his opponents are former or current regional or international titles holders, or had at the very least, solid amateur records.

    He's got a pretty solid amateur record as well.

    What is there to not like about him ? I don't know for you, but I just can't help but cheer for him.

    Both I guess. I see a lot of guy on here, or other places make it out like Stevenson is the god of light heavyweight.

    For god sake, this guy beat up womans and most likely murdered peoples ... He would get death penalty anywhere but Montreal ... and I'm from Montreal too.

    He doens't have an outstanding record either.

    He is even less liked now that he is on team Haymon. Where does the OP get this idea?

    He is clearly the better boxer. But again, who, aside from MVC PimpC El Chico, likes Adonis.

    Kovalev does not beat up women...............

    Kovalev is Russian fighter who lives in USA, but the prejudice he what hurts him, same with Golovkin, Klitschkos..................

    No one likes Stevenson more.

    Some rank him higher because he beat Dawson but that's nothing to do with liking.

    Pretty sure the winner of kovalev and Stevenson will be seen as true number 1 anyways by most.

    Yeah..erm - I think the TS is just plain wrong - unless perhaps he lives in Canada.

    Especially since his apparent avoidence of the Kovalev fight Stevenson is almost universally the less liked of the pair.

    People consider him to be the man at LHW because he beat Dawson and generally has a decent resume.

    Not sure anyone outside opf Canada "likes" him though.

    Here we go, another 'nobody likes him because hes white' thread




    From my experiences on this forum, Kovalev is more liked/respected than Stevenson.

    For proof see the interview where Kovalev called Stevenson a POS and the audience cheered him.

    Although i feel Stevenson has the better wins in Dawson, Cloud, Bellew and Fonfara. But im not going to argue with anyone who disagrees

    There are some here in the US, but yeah. Much of the dislike of Stevenson is based on his past.

    It has been made worse by wrecking potential Kovalev and Hopkins fights.

    I don't see Kovalev being more disliked than Stevenson. Not even remotely so.
