Why is Kovalev less liked than Stevenson ?

Kovalev may be the most likable boxer out there today, just based on his interviews. I think the guy has some star potential. Just keep getting better at English!

I am willing to look beyond Stevenson's past but even I don't like the guy. His "Superman" schtick rubs me the wrong way. On the otherhand, I see nothing to dislike about Kovalev. He's not a dirty fighter, takes care of business in the ring and seems to be personable outside of the ring. I think the OP's premise is clearly in error.

I think Stevenson receives more press since he KO'd Dawson but Kovalev is universally more liked. I'm one of those people that doesn't give a **** about what happens outside the ring. He was a pimp and beat his hoes, don't care. This isn't a popularity contest.

 

I am from Canada and I like Adonis by default (We don't have many top athletes and support our own), but my homeboy Kovalev still ranks higher.

Besides, Kovalev knows no fear, and that is an attractive trait in a boxer.

 

We all know why.

It's for the same reason the Klitschkos, Calzaghe, Kessler, Adamek, etc are not well-liked by people like SweetSciGuru, derrick, dinovelvet, DrMo, JASPER and Pimp C.

No clue what made you think Kovalev's less liked liked than Stevenson. Just the opposite - Sergej is both liked and respected. His only problem is that he is not that widely known. Hopefully, this will change after November.

 

If the scared woman beater is ever forced to fight Kovalev I will enjoy seeing Stevenson sleeping on the mat.
