Zaveck was a tough WW titlist. When he held the belt, I fancied his chances over most WW's out there. And I suppose the reason he is fighting Zaveck is because, like certain other fighters as well, he can't get higher ranking and more marketed opponents.
I haven't heard him calling out Andrade, Charlo brothers, Vanes. He only called out Goovkin knowing that network issues will make that impossible.
Yep. He mentioned Golovkin on twitter and has made absolutely zero attempt to make the fight. GGG's team have never had any contact from Lara's team.
Zaveck was really never that good, he was a weak titlist like Senchenko and that's at 147, now he's shot and blown up. It's a dreadful fight.
My bad, I didn't realize the fight is already completed. Lara is on my no watch list, so figures I wouldn't have known.
...And? Yes the network war is very real, unfortunately. Rarely do fighters publicly "call out" fighters in their own stable. They simply communicate with their promoter about it and already know what the situation entails if a fight is realistic, around the corner, or not being looked into. That is why you don't see fighters of the same stable publicly trash talking their way into a bout with each other. They don't have to. I'd like to see any of those match ups, with Lara/Vanes II being the one exception. Doesn't really interest me although it'd still be a decent match up.
My vague response would be: yes and no on both accounts. Certainly not "dreadful." Just like denying that fighters are scared to face Golovkin is skewed selective thinking, so too and even more so is denying that fighters are scared to face Lara. So, chill out guys. It's not a competition, rivalry, nothing like that. They compete in two different divisions, anyways. So the Golovkin fanboys and haters alike need to just chill out.
GGG doesn't want to fight him, he's the REAL most avoided man in boxing today so he has to fight Tomato Cans.
