Yes but just because they're scared to face him doesn't mean it's a better opponent on any measure, it's still a bad fight. Unavoidably so? Maybe, although I think there are much better options at his own weight, even if it's something like a top 20 guy. I understand the situation with Lara but still, a bad fight is a bad fight and this was definitely one. If you think I'm biased, I'll compare this to something like if GGG fought K9 in his next fight, if that happens you won't see me sugar coating a dreadful fight, trust me. (Oh and I'm not trying to take shots at you, in case you think that, maybe you think K9-GGG would not be a dreadful fight either, IDK, I disagree though or maybe I rate Zaveck much lower than you)
This. And I expect that poster to call that fight "dreadful." I respect his opinion completely, as long as he's consistent with it.
Tureano Johnson is at least semi relevant in the division and not edging towards 40. Its not a great match up by any stretch but Lara vs Zaveck was pathetic.
It's an OK filler fight for Lara. Lara has faced good opposition and wants bigger fights. The problem is, other big names want nothing to do with Lara. Look at how GiGi is ducking him, but Lara is now going up to MW, put a Cuban boxing lesson on Golovkin before snatching GiGi's belts. Lra did hwta he was supposed to do against Zaveck by boxing in the pocket and getting the early stoppage.
The route to GGG literally couldn't be simpler. The only middleweight title in PBC's stable is the WBA regular belt. Golovkin is the WBA super champion. Whoever wants it only needs to win that belt, and press for the fight as the mandatory. You let me know when that call happens. In the meantime, say he's ducking everyone to your heart's content. I hear he ducked a call out from Eric Crumble, too.
He is the IBF mandatory though I think, so he kind of has to. On topic, it isn't a great fight but I don't really know what options Lara has to be honest. He can make fighters look awful but he doesn't have that 0 to entice people to fight him either.
As a Cuban American who went to watch the fight live yesterday and screamed LARA LARA LARA and CUBA CUBA CUBA drunk as ****, I wouldn't say GGG is ducking Lara. I dont understand how you can duck someone who doesn't fight in your division. Also, just because you made a YouTube video or sent a tweet calling someone out doesn't mean you were serious about fighting him. I doubt Lara has made a serious offer to GGG, especially with Lara fighting under PBC . Calling people out on the internet means nothing.
