Well he was a two time world Bantamweight champ...(NBA plus linear) ...and beat Sixto Escobar who is in....
I'm not that big on the IBHOF, but I consider Salica a borderline ATG at BW, at best. I rank him #22 there based purely on fights contested in and around the weight divison. According to my notes he went 50-12-8 in & around BW, including 5-1 in world title fights during his reign. He beat Indian Quitana, Pablo Dano x 2, Small Montana, Henry Hook & Young Joe Roche I consider 11 of his 12 defeats at BW to have come in or around his peak, inlcuding losses to Speedy Dado, Tony Marino, Rush Dalma by SD, David Kong Young and twice to the brilliant Manuel Ortiz when he may have been fading. He split series with the ATG Flyweight Midget Wolgast (1-1-1), borderline ATG BW Sixto Escabar (1-2; the win was an MD), Tony Oliveria (1-1), Little Dado (0-1-1) & Tommy Forte (2-1; the loss an MD).
I am starting to feel that everyone and no one is in the HOF at this point. Lots of guys who I am like "why?" and then others who should obviously be in, at least to me, are missing, some much more famous than Lou! Not sure what the criteria is? Is it skill or just being famous/significant or a mix of both? Some guys like Barry McGuigan were certainly unique with a cool life story while others were almost certainly more skilled and made more impact in the sport. As discussed in another thread guys like Mike Nunn who has far more wins and titles than Barry and was seen as one of the best in the world at his time is not in. Sounds like an interesting fighter but I feel there are a ton of fighters like him who are probably ahead of him in the queue!
IS it sincerely your intention to ask this question about any fighter that has a modicum of a claim to be in the IBHOF? The right answer will remain the same - money that the HOF will get by admitting them, fame of the fighter in question, clicks.
Well, pretty much yeah. I want to get discussions going and hopefully, these will get noticed by HOF voters.
