What precedent do we have to base this on?

Or, in other words, I would be interested to know when Khan faced similar adversity and ultimately triumphed.

Err, yeah of course he will. Not that he was exactly gung ho against Malignaggi or Kotelnik. And they didn't land anything significant between them.

So we have Khan not taking chances and basically boxing behind the jab, then moving away. Maidana's a less accomplished boxer and punch picker than either Malignaggi or Kotelnik.

This backs up my original point. The question isn't whether Khan can take Maidana's best shots (or even some decent ones). The question is whether Maidana can land them.

If Khan took half the punishment that Ortiz took in that fight, he wouldn't have the chance to quit because he'd be unconscious.

Khan has been on the deck a few times. I'm surprised you hadn't heard.

We'll need a new message board as this one will implode.

If Khan takes Maidana's punches and wins regardless, I will be the FIRST to commend him.

No problem mate your posts provide a good read ............ :good

I think Khan will look to jump on Maidana early , and attempt to remove the sting from his tale and hurt him inside the first 3 , if he doesnt acheive this Maidana becomes more dangerous as the fight goes until Khan hurts him ................ at that point Khan can then implement his superior boxing skill and freakish output to the full extent , if Khan does not make Maidana respect him on multiple occasions this becomes messy for Khan .

In addition i dont want to lavish undue praise on Khan , i want to state that i sincerley beleive Maidana does not see out 12 against Khan , Bradley or Alexander , they are too well rounded for him , they are too technical and skillfull for Maidana .

However .................... i agree , Maidana's best chance of skinning any of these 3 lies with Khan's chin .

People will accuse him of being on something dodgy, just like when Pac took Cotto's bombs. This would be even more shocking though, as most believe that Khan, as opposed to Pac, actually has a complete paper mache chin. I'm also very dubious about his punch resistance, after seeing Limond and an old Gomez hurt him. I don't really care about the Prescott fiasco, mainly because he IS a big puncher, and he caught Khan with some full-blooded flush shots.

Back on topic, the main reason Maidana is seen as such a big threat to Khan is clearly due to his dynamite hands. He has more than just a 'puncher's chance' in this bout, and Khan would have to skip around the ring with a high guard all night.

In the Breidis Prescott fight, he got abused, yet he got up, Ref had to stop it, but he didn't quit and cry.

It was a close fight that many thought Maidana won, and if Khan gets tagged the way Maidana did, he'll be waking up in a hospital.

I do think Khan would box circles around Maidana. But Maidana has been Khan's mandatory for a while now, and Maidana has the power to make Khan go to sleep, especially with that beard of his. It's a compelling fight for that reason alone. And if he can get by Maidana, it will answer the huge remaining question about Khan - can he handle a puncher?
