You don't want to rely on someone over coming an injury on a time frame when talking about a million dollar fight. Why risk Alvarado not recovering in time or injuring it again in training. Then the entire event is ruined. They made the right choice not picking Alvarado. If those two were to fight next then that would be good.
He could have done a lot worse, like every other fighter in boxing except Floyd. Look at Marquez, earnings wise. Sure I can see him going down that sad and familiar route, but come on, this is not punch drunk Toney or RJJ.
Manny should of took the Floyd fight when he had the chance to. At least he would of made a good amount of money from it, win or loose. There might still be time for it to happen, but it clearly lost the luster it once had. If it was to happen though, Manny would have to make himself relavant again. The only way for that to happen is by winning a few more tough fights, to make it worth Floyd wild to fight him. That's the only reason why I believe he's still fighting. If the opportunity presents itself again, he'll be a damn fool not to jump on it.
:think That is true. He also lost what Mick called the hunger:roll: Dun dun dun dun dun....Duna Dun:bbb :smoke
He's fighting because 100% of all boxers in history fight past their peak. Why is Hopkins, Cotto, Bute, Paulie, Adamek, Abraham, and Judah still fighting? It's because they are past prime, but still can entertain the crowd. That's the role of a boxer. As long as people will pay to see them fight, and they can put on a reasonable performance, they will fight. Perception is everything. They don't need to win the big fights anymore. They just sell the illusion that maybe this time they will.
Money plain and simple !!! Any athlete with talent will milk their talents as much as possible until theres nothing left. You do understand Manny get's paid a lot of money to fight so why stop now? Yes he was knock out unconscious which is never good for a fighter and majority of the time there never the same but Manny is going to keep fighting and keep spending like he always does.
