Actually, Freddie/Arum stated they were willing to fight Martinez at 150lbs. Shouldn't be a problem for Martinez since he was fighting at 147 just 18 months ago, right?

What's the point in starting the negotiation if both parties know beforehand that they will not agree on the most basic thing such as weight class? They would just be wasting their time.

I can't believe a moderator of ESB is this stupid about boxing.
    I mean seriously.
It's common logic why boxing has weight divisions, not height or reach or skill divisions.

Pac came in at 148lbs on a 150lbs catch weight, total bull****, title fight. (Later on he relinquished the bull**** title because he and his team realized that Pac maxed out at welter)

Say Sergio makes 154, then he can and he will rehydrate to upwards of 170lbs+ on fight night.

We're looking at at least 22lbs worth of =-weight advantage there.

That's 3 weight divisions worth of discrepancy on the weigh-in, then some 5 weight divisions worth of discrepancy on fight night (because the other won't add anymore weight, mind you)

So let me ask you this, with all possible respect, moderator...

Maybe, just maybe, that has something to do with Oscar being the top dog at that time...you know kinda like how Manny is now. If Maravilla wants Manny, he'll have to do it in his terms....below 150lbs.

Freddy you are much too smart to post this crap. You start with a hugely flawed premise that Margarito and Martinez are the same size. They aren't. Besides, all you've shown is they are about the same height. It's WEIGHT classes, not tall classes. :D

PAc weighed, what, maybe 150 fight night for his bout w/ Margarito? That says it all.

    Hes not a mod.

He wants Pac to fight Martinez cause hes tired of seeing him beating mexicans up.

Call me troll or not, but I think Sergo is a bit cautious of ending up like Cotto and Margo so that's why he won't come down. Then these guys say pac is avoiding... lol. It goes both ways doesn't it?

Its a legit question. Would help Pac's legacy as ATG. Winnable fight for him too, he would just need to risk getting hurt. Same with Floyd

He's definitley BIGGER than PAC. Too big??? I've been saying that men are TOO big for PAC for a long time. but PAC always dispels that as myth.

I think the style is wrong therefore they aren't as comfortable agreeing to such a task. No question with the style, talent and SIZE Sergio is a HUGE threat to PAC.

Plus....Sergio is much more solid at 154 or 160 being tht he's faught his whole career at the higher weight where Marg has stayed pretty much at 147. So I do think Sergio is a BIGGER, Stronger and more solid man based on where they've had pro fights for the majority of their careers.

Indeed, I mean... surely Pacquiao is less skilled than the likes of Margarito, Hatton, Clottey and Cotto. He has shown absolutely nothing in his fights prior to moving up to 147 to give the impression that he's a skilled fighter. I mean, it doesn't mean a damn thing that he won at least 5 rounds against a master technician like Marquez in their second fight. We all know that all Pac had going for him then was speed and power. That's all you need against Marquez right, speed and power, that's why speed and power was so effective against Marquez in their 1st fight from the 4th round onwards right? :tired

And you're right, he's hurting the guys at 147 worse than he did below 147. The evidence is right there, from 122-135 only 1 fighter was never knocked down and only 3 fighters were never knocked out. Whereas at 147 and above... oh wait :tired
