You assume too much!! I've seen boxing videos with Marcianos fights!!! Lots of his fights were admittedly highlights rather than the full fight but still got to see lots of Marciano and he was a slugger, a great world champion but I see him in the low top 10 probs just in there at 9 or 10.
what? ive seen a ton of experts and retired fighter who have rocky in the top 10 ill be honest if rocky was black NO ONE would question his place. its BS people do im italian and a fan of rocky but i am not bias. he fought the best available at the time and beat all the contenders. thats all you can do when youre the champ am i wrong? also even though charles and walcott were older they were still much more talented than rocky was. moore was old but if im correct he went on to win the LHW title after his loss to rock and my personal fav. rocky beat up on blown up light heavies. thats the biggest crock of ****. rocky himself weighed in the low 180's himself. he could have easily sweat down to 175. most of the time rocky was outweighed anywhere from 10 to 70 pounds if you asked me where i put him. its simple. anywhere in the top 10. it all goes by how you rank him but to NOT PUT him in your top 10, even at #10, is a joke and shows you know nothing about the sport
It was a pretty good win still, though obviously not great. It's not as if Louis came out of retirement simply to face Marciano. He'd been fighting pretty consistently for about a year prior to being stopped by Rock, and had taken wins over Lee Savold and Jimmy Bivins. Moore was a natural LHW, but he was still a very successful HW. And giving him grief because of Moore's age holds about as much bearing as giving someone grief about their performance against Hopkins at his age. Moore was the best fighter of his age to ever fight. He was not in his prime at the time, but he was still a very good fighter. In better form than Spinks for sure IMO. The fact that you're sighting Walcott's losses more than likely means you're a Boxrec warrior who's trying to hold it against him, failing to realize that he was still an elite Heavy at the time coming off two wins over Ezzard Charles. He was toward the end of the ropes, but still an excellent fighter. Another who was in top form in his later years. And he was a full-fledged HW at the time, one of the best of the era, and a perfect fit for the division. In fact, he out-weighed Marciano by about 13 pounds, as Rock was usually mid-Cruiserweight in his performances. Charles was past his prime, but you're bound to have a lot of losses facing the stellar competition he did so often throughout his career. Charles's performance in the first fight was probably his last hurrah, as he fought very well and managed to hurt Rock and bust his nose up, but Rock made up for it in the rematch, though Charles was done as an elite fighter by then.
Marciano was a ****in warrior. The dude cleaned out his division and scored brutal knockouts. he rematched guys who fought close with him and destroyed them 2nd time around (Walcott, Charles, Lastarza). Marciano-Walcott I, Charles I and II and Moore were all classics. Respected his opponents and let his fists do the talking...humble...A great champ inside and outside the ring. what more can u ask of the man. He's my #3 on the ATG Hw list: 1-Ali 2-Louis 3-Rock 4-The Hayematrix The Rock had underrated skills too: [yt]9b0yHvw-vW0[/yt]
fought the best? joe louis? was an OLD man who was shot beyond his years. archie moore was even older and a light heavyweight...joe walcott was was almost 40 years old....fight him 2 times... ezzard charles...ok, at least he was younger than the others.... name one other guy from the 40 plus victims that went on and did anything? or was anything? rex layne? lastarza? you will be hard pressed... marciano came around at the right time....
1. He was undefeated in 49 fights. However, in his era most boxers fought 60-70 fights. I can't imagine Marciano undefeated on 60 fights. 2. He beat twelve Top10 contenders. That's a pretty good record, although his era was a weak one.
i respect the pros of the sport and the experts who rank him in the top 10 over a bunch of haters who have never read bout him or watched his fights many of the fighters who were in the ring said the same thing. his punching power was unreal and he even broke bones off lastraza's elbows. the guy beat the best of his time, yes it was a weak era but that stands for something im not saying the guy would beat ali, foreman, frazier, etc but it be unfair to say hed be blown out as well. ali even said just sparring with him that his ribs were hurting like hell. he also put ali down with as body punch. when did ali ever go down from a body that (and dont say wepner that was a slip)

This content is protected "I had a bad weakness I kept hid throughout my career. I didn't like to be crowded, and Marciano always crowded his opponents. That's why I say I could never have beaten him." This content is protected "Naturally, the first thought that comes to mind would have to be Muhammad Ali. Ali is more my time. But before my time, it would have to be Joe Louis or Rocky Marciano." This content is protected "Just look at Rocky Marciano's record. Nobody beat him. You can't take that from him." Undefeated heavyweight champion of the world. I mean, how much better can you do than that?" "Marciano is the most underrated heavyweight of all time. He had so much more than they ever gave him credit for. He was capable of getting those bigger, heavier guys and destroying them." yea joe louis might have been old but he won his last 8 and his last was a year before to ezzard charles before he fought marciano as to where holmes had lost his last 2 before tyson and rock didnt even want to fight joe louis jersey joe walcott he was never known for being a middleweight and he was defending heavyweight champion when marciano beat him so if he wanted to become heavyweight champion they had to fight once again archie moore is known for being a light heavy not a middleweight even tho he fought at middle before alot of light heavys and heavys did back then so it doesnt mean anything moore was alot better a fighter then micheal spinks id even say if you put moore in with spinks instead of marciano that night he would have kncoked him just as fast as mike tyson spinks lost to mike and was never heard from again after moores loss to marciano he went 11-0 7ko and won the light heavy weight title before he stepped up and floyd patterson and beat him he then went 20-0-1 13ko and won another light heavy weight title before he lost again when he lost giualio rinaldi then 2 fights later he beat him again and won another light heavy weight title the he would go 6-0-1 3ko before he lost muhammad ali then he beat popular wrestler mike dibiase so from 1955-1963 archie moores record was 37-3-2 27ko so id say even at 39 he was far from shopworn and much better then mike spinks at any age
Shut the **** up you racist little ****. Take your inbred, inferiority complex, self esteem lacking, ***** self out of this message board. To reference Archie Moore as having a glass jaw says it all about what a little **** you are. Just mentioning Archie Moore in your ignorant post contradicts everything you typed!!!!! Archie Moore was a BLACK fighter, and he had many losses. He also had over 200 career fights. Now Archie Moore is recognized by EVERYONE who knows ANYTHING about boxing as being one of the greatest fighters of all time, and yet you denigrate a BLACK all time great boxer to try and prove a lame ass excuse for an opinion. This shows what a stupid **** you are. You are then in turn ASSUMING people on this website that praise Marciano are all white. You have no idea of the race of the people and their opinions here. You once again show your ignorant, hating PREJUDGICE in that statement also. By your figuring, all the boxing publications, sports writers, fans, etc. that consider Marciano an all time great are racists also!!!!! It's people like you who create an air of animosity between people of different races. Opinions like yours can make people who don't have a problem with people different than them, start to look at other races twice, wondering if they are thinking thoughts like the one spilling out of your ass that is parading as a mouth.
