His competition wasn't "shitty" and the mafia didn't help beat his opponents in the ring....He was just, a God. I'll say it again, he beat the crap outta everyone, made the world spin with all the running he did in training, and filled up hospitals with ruined boxing casualties!

But then, suddenly some old bloke named Bert Sugar (that guy with the really dumb old hat) says he's not the best ever so everyone else has to agree.

    i agree rock great post

rocky will be in the eyes of ex fighters, champs, and experts of the game. a top 10 HW of all time

and in this day and age with all the lack of fighting and activity no one will sniff 49-0 and be HW champ at the same time

    This is my list

    1: Marciano
    2: Tie: Tyson/Ali

Reason? I cannot see a feasible situation in which Ali could beat Marciano. It seems feasible to me that Marciano wins by late KO almost 100% of the time.

Tyson could beat Marciano with sharp punches and flash KDs. Marciano would not stay down, Tyson could win by UD(Yeah I said Tyson by UD, suck one if you dont like it) I think most times neither guy would drop and it would be Marciano by UD via workrate.

Ali vs Tyson is 50/50 depending on what night it is.

Agreed. Except that you are overrating Tyson too much. Tyson would panic when his early onslaught doesn't work against Marciano and would get KO'd in the later rounds for sure. :bbb

You are right, Ali would kick Tyson's ass. :D

But as for Marciano, Rocky would beat both of them brutally and both would never be the same again afterwards (a bone will be broken). :!:

Marciano would have to be given a good chance to win a fight against any HW in history by KO. He had extreme disruptive power and heart. Could he be tamed? Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it.

Both guys were fossils by the time he fought them. Moore did peak in later years and gave Marciano a war but realistically his physical prime was spent. Other than that Marciano didnt really beat anyone of any note. His record is glittering purely because he was unbeaten at 50-0 and retired on top as champ.

:thumbsup No doubt. The guy could punch. But Rocky was a crude slugger with little polish to his game. It worked though and took him to 50-0 but the facts remain he didnt fight anyone of any note. The Mongoose gave him a tussle but they were all old men. Louis only came out of retirement because he was broke. If that fight was in Louis`s prime Marciano would have been knocked out.

he retired at 49-0. you dont know much bout marciano do you?

wanna know how i figured that out?

you said rock was not polished. go watch some footage. he slipped the jab very well and wasnt easy to hit. he was no mayweather and he took a lot of shots but he wasnt easy to hit

also louis didnt come out of retirement for rocky. he fought 8 times since his loss to charles, which was for the HW title

louis was old, yes, but won his last 8 fights. walcott won 5 of his last 7 and charles won 11 of his last 13

he beat many top guys on his way up and when he held the title briefly.

and louis told people prime for prime rocky would beat him. im not saying that would happen but louis said rocky's style would pose problems since he was a swarmer and could punch hard

Oooo well done sherlock il send you a cookie in the post. So sorry my memory slipped a digit there.. 49-50 whatever man. Marciano was a slugger point blank end of story. He slipped a jab so freaking what? Iv watched plenty of his footage and have the old ESPN re runs in my fight collection. So you keep figuring..

a fellow uploaded some good footage on him up on youtube. it showed him able to slip jabs, get out of range of power shots, and slip punches and return hooks
