dont really understand this training strategy from marquez

i know his best weight is 130-135 and that he then gains to about 143-145

pac is gunna weigh about 148 at most

the same weight difference for the last 2 fights pretty much unless im mistaken

so why is he bothering to try to add on weight and muscle when all he had to do is not worry about making the weight

surely he doesnt need to worry about his weight, or is it a case of he knows pac will be stronger and punching harder at this weight and knows he needs to some how change his body to deal with it

Just like they know what they're doing the last time he fought at this weight against Mayweather?

I have wondered the exact same thing. I think they know manny wont be drained down like he was in the last fight therefore he will be much stronger. Manny cut 14 pounds of water weight for the second fight and never fought at the weight again. Hell he only fought once at 135. Bottom line i think it is in the anticipation that manny will be much stronger than in the second fight and they are a bit worried about JMM takings mannys power.

marquez has a conditioning coach and a nutritionist for the first time ever.

Why is boxing so stuck in the stone ages?

These pathetic *******s are going by HBO unofficial weights........
Pacquiao is thicker and stronger than he was when the rematch occured.

......hell even Marquez looks bigger fighting only 5 lbs up as a lightweight.

I've said it many times throughout the past weeks when it relates to Marquez bulking up for this fight with Pacquiao.
......only a slick runner, a punch and out Judy would not be overly concerned about being as strong as Pacquiao.

Marquez however is a pocket counterpuncher. He's not going to be on his toes running from Pacquiao. He's going to be right there in the pocket, sidestepping and firing.
Marquez will always be within punching distance of Pacquiao. So his shots have got to be strong enough for Pacquiao to respect or Pacquiao will just walk right through him.

Two things that are a prerequisite for Marquez.
.....his punching power has to be enough for Pacquiao to respect.
    and
......the extra mass he will have since they last me will help him absorb Pacquiao's punches.

Pacquiao's a welterweight and Marquez is a lightweight.
A pocket counterpuncher like Marquez is not going to beat Pacquiao as a welterweight unless he adds mass.

The same Marquez that beat Katsidis, would not be enough to beat Pacquiao.
Marquez needs to rid his body of some of the excess fat he had vs Katsidis, and convert that into lean mass for this Pacquiao fight.

The keys for Marquez to beat Pacquiao are strenghth and timeing.

exactly. i am wondering the same. pacquiao did not gain as much weight as he did from when he was fighting back in 130. the thing is that pac only stopped cutting weight too much and is comfortable now weighing around the 144 range. i'm saying this again, the best for jmm on this fight is just weigh around 138 to 140 and rehydrate to 145 just like he usually does and retain his speed that troubled pacquiao in the first two fights.

He needs to bulk a little bit to have the strength to deal with the 148 solid Pacquiao coming at him all night. Neither fighters are physically the same and you can tell that just by looking at them

Marquez is looking abit top heavy but what do I know compared to a professional.

Yeah I'm so tired myself of Pac fans trying to make the fight more credible. Anyway I hope that JMM is bulking well but I'm not even watching 24/7 that's how interested in this fight I am. Given the fact that I'm a boxing nut and a JMM fan I guess that only Philipinos and some Mexicans will tune up for this fight. I'm still mad that Floyd did such good ppv numbers( I watched the fight in a bar). People should stop buying Floyd and Pac fight until they fight each other or they fight sexito

While i do understand the logic of gaining more power and punching resistance...i really wonder how much it would help him when PAC seems to also walk through most "true WW's" punches and not to mention that he still have the same power to hurt these WW's...

i'm pretty sure if PAC hits JMM w/ that hook he used on Mosely ...no amount of bulking up will help him....he's going down HARD!! and i doubt if he get's back up

i'd still say his best bet is to come in as usual, retain his agility/mobility and hopefully win on points ...granted he doesn't get knocked down this time around

    just my opinion though

I'm a Marquez fan, so I"ll absolutely tune in on fight night.
If you're fight fan, I'd advise you to do the same.

Nacho is already stating that the night of Nov 12th will be an epic night for Marquez, one that they will talk about for years to come.
Nacho does'nt normally throw out sayings like that for no reason.
During the leadup to Marquez-Mayweather, the 24/7's showed Nacho not being content to where Marquez' physical preperation was for Mayweather.

....when Mayweather came in over the weight limit, Nacho's words were, "an extremely difficult and monumental task Juan has in front of him just got bigger."

All I'm sayin is that Nacho Beristain unlike the clowns over at Pacquiao's team, has a history of keeping his comments real.
I think thats a good indicator to Marquez current possibilites vs Pacquiao.

.....and I'll add. The other side is worried. There's a new article right now over at Pacland. Its a question and answer with Alex Ariza.
Ariza is so worried, he's gone to criticizing how Marquez is bulking up so quickly.
This clown should have his full attention and sights on Pacquiao being ready, but instead in this just released interview, he's going off on Marquez' current training regimen.
Go take a look, this clown Ariza is worried and butting his nose giving his opinions on Marquez' current physique and physical training regimen.

When you start worried about what the other side is doing, its says alot to the mental mindet of those team Pacquiao clowns.:yep

I hope that you are right but my feeling is not for a competitive fight (sight)
