I keep reading this on this board. He just fought a guy who weighed the same on fight night as Martinez did on fight night. Now Martinez who is about the same size as Margarito is too big for him? Is it because he is more skilled? Not as slow and lumbering? Coming off a big ko win rather than a loss? A 147 lb fighter fighting a 168 lb fighter would be the same in % terms as a 210 david haye fighting a 239 lb fighter. Yet not 1 person mentioned anything about size when hes fighting a 253 lb Harrison and wasnt mentioned all that much against a 317 Valuev. And you look at all these fights and they are not even competitive the "smaller" guy keeps dominating the bigger guy with all the supposed advantages they never seem to mention the smaller guy is faster and way more skilled than their bigger counterpart.
simply coz many doubt he could come down to even 154! So unless you expect Pac to fight at 157 or even 160, its clear Martinez is too big! I doubt Pac will ever fight above 147 again
because he: A. isn't coming off a loss or shitty performance B. isn't a TR fighter C. won't drain the life out of himself to get down to 149-150
Using HW as analogy is stupid or else Primo Carnera and Valuev could have been two of the greatest fighter ever.
1. at lower weights, a smaller size difference is more critical for boxers than heavyweights. 2. after the margarito fight, pac should never fight above 147 again. a body shot from margarito has kept pac in pain for days after the fight and margarito only outweighed pac 17 pounds that night, how much more if he is outweighed 20 pounds or more by martinez? 3. pac is even small for the other welterweights and is pushing himself fighting bigger guys. 4. even martinez would now be having trouble getting to 154 or below so this would not be good for either fighter since both will not come in their best conditions possible. the size difference is just too big.
Well Valuev is possibly the greatest fighter ever. So, I don't know what you mean. Edit: "possibly" Where do I come up with them?! Really, "definitely", of course.
Martinez said the lowest he can go is 156lbs. Margarito can still make 150lbs. Big difference there. There was a thread just posted here where Pac said in an interview that if Martinez can make 150lbs, then they can fight. But personally, I think they don't need to fight each other. There is a weight division for a reason. They have to fight at the maximum weight of the division or no fight at all.
because Martinez said he is too big for Pac. If you know better than Martinez about Martinez, then I'd believe you.
If you read what i wrote was that the smaller guy is dominating the bigger guy in spite of the size difference.
Kellerman ask Martinez, If How far he can go down... Martinez replied 156, And he also said that Pac was too small....
Its interesting you say this yet Pac just annihalated Margarito and im pretty sure he was in a lot more pain than Pac was.
the guy just defended his MW belt. it's MW ffs!!! even other top fighters at WW and below, i will have no problem if they choose not to fight him.
