During the course of my day, and the nature of my job, I come in contact with a lot of different people and I hear a lot of stupid ****, but I will say this as a matter of fact. I have never come into as much stupid **** as what I read on this forum. I can understand a difference of opinion or a heated logical response but some of these posters are pure lunitics and should be locked up in a room with thier hands and mouth sewed together so that can never write or say another mother****ing word. Amen.

MORON!!! Ali beat the **** out of several women. It's well documented in many of his Bios.....One time Sugar Ray Robinson (another women beater....hell most boxers are) as part of Ali's entourage was so concerned of the terrible beating that Ali was laying on one of his girls in the next room that he banged on the door and begged Ali to stop, Ali proceeded to threaten SRR if he didn't mind his own business. He said something like "Ray you were great and my idol but you're an old middleweight, I'm a heavyweight, I can hurt you"

I agree with what some said once Floyd retires he will be much more respected but I think what seperates them was the fact that Ali had much better charisma and could complete sentences no offense to Mayweather but dude stutters too much, but like I say Floyd will be more appreciated once hes gone.

    Ali:
-Heavyweight champ during the time when boxing was the worlds #1 most popular sport and the Heavyweight champ was the most revered Athlete in sports. They got headlines in all the magazines and newspapers, they were on TV all the time and they got more exposure than Michael Jackson. Nowadays most sports fans know nothing about boxing.
-Transcended the sport and was a cultural, political and racial icon.
-Had the gift of gab, wit, humour, fun disposition
-One of the most popular and known human beings to ever walk the earth
    - fought all the most known boxers of his era when boxing was the #1 sport. **** the fighters he fought got more coverage than Mayweather gets in mainstream media.....Frazier, Foreman were both more known than Mayweather currently is.
    - as a big mayweather fan- he is just greater than Mayweather..... There's only 2 boxers in history who can be ranked above Ali and Money ain't one of them.
    - was a hero to blacks and a champion of their cause in a time when they desperately needed one.....Mayweather wouldn't do this but he doesn't even have the chance in this era where things have changed so much as far as racial equality (still racist as **** though)

    Mayweather:

-not endearing at all, terrible speaker.
    - in the internet age where haters are far more prevelant (Ali would have had a lot of haters had online forums been around then).
    - in a time where boxing isn't even in the top 10 sports and gets ZERO mainstream media coverage unlike the Ali era where it was the most covered sport
    - has nothing but his excellent skills as a fighter to attract fans in a sport that gets no coverage

**** if Ali were fighting today he wouldn't have half the popularity. I'm sure he'd still be the most popular boxer on earth but the times have changed, no one cares about boxing anymore besides us hardcores.

Aside from boxing skills, Floyd couldn't come out with a speech like that if he had an auto-cue and a script-writing team. Ali may have been a bit of a ****wit with the whole Nation of Islam thing, but his wit, charm and intelligence were leagues ahead of any boxer before or since.

agreed....Floyd is a horrible speaker and not even remotely witty, charming or interesting outside of the ring. Floyds only attraction is his in ring skills, Ali had much more to interest people.

I guess that's why more white people were rooting for Joe Frazier in their first fight.

Unless you consider that within the first half of Ali's career. :think
