Why is Mikkel Kessler not ranked among the Top 15 by the IBF?

The WBA rank him after Inkin, Braehmer and Haeussler.
The WBC rank him after Froch and Inkin.
The WBO rank him after Braehmer.

One thought was that they only rank a fighter after he has fought another one of their fighters. But as sean pointed out, the IBF rank Andrade, whom Kessler beat, 8th in their Top 15. Only explanation along these lines is that Andrade was ranked by the IBF AFTER he was beaten by Kessler, not before.

So, what do you think? Why don't they rank Mikkel?

I dont know why but he should be ranked outside of Joe Calzaghe he has the best resume in the super middleweight division.

Just because you lose to the best doesnt mean you have automatically become ****!

    WAR Kessler!

Why though? Kessler is better than Bute, he is more marketable, he is better known...why wouldn't they want Kessler to be their Champ instead?

Kessler is the one 168lbs fighter favoured (JC not included) to beat Bute. If they're gonna fight it should happen as a unification if at all.

So you think the IBF says: We would want Kessler as a Champ, but only as a Unified Champ...? hmmm....Why not have Kessler beat Bute and thus make himself the unbeatable IBF Champ who then takes over the other belts?:think

im sick and tired of these rankings!!
Everybody that knows a little about boxing knows that kessler is number 2 in the world.whatever its wba, wbc, ibf or wbo... i think it´s grotesk that he´s ranked that low!!
He will be back, and clean the division once and for all.

I would guess that while he was WBC and WBA champ he was unranked by the IBF for that reason and since he lost to Calzaghe they've forgotten to put him back in.

Kessler will be the undisputed SMW champion, he may never rematch Joe.. but there's other fish to fry out there. It'll definitely be a few interesting years for the SMW division with Kessler,Bute,Froch,Brähmer and a few upcomers like Andre Ward, Pascal, Miranda etc.:happy

I wouldn't put it past the IBF. Too busy thinking about which legitimate champion to strip next.
