Why is Mikkel Kessler not ranked among the Top 15 by the IBF?

Well if they where to rank Kessler it would be above the fighters fighting the eliminator - that would make those fighters less likely to pay the sanctionfee for the eliminator and look elsewhere for fights - after all if Calzaghe drops the belts, then there will be a lot of options.

I think we'll see Kessler ranked once the eliminatorfight is over and IBF has gotten the sanctionfee.

    So IBF "forgot" :D

Wouldn't Kessler pay the sanctioning fee in their stead? Why would the IBF care who it is paying the fee, in the Top 15?:think

    Kessler rated:
No elimiator - Kessler-Bute for the title = one sanctionfee

    Kessler not rated:
    Bute-Joppy
    Finaleliminator
Kessler rated -> Kessler-the champion = three sanctionfees

    How about: (more realistically)

    Kessler rated:

    Bute v. Joppy - voluntary
    Final eliminator including Kessler
Bute puts in a surprisingly good performance and draws against Kessler
Rematch - an even better Bute UDs Kessler narrowly = four sanctioning fees.

I doubt Kessler will waste time with an eliminator - if Calzaghe drops his belts, then Kessler should be able to get a titleshot without an eliminator. And no mater how you mix the pieces Kessler wouldn't be fighting until april/maj - by then Bute-Joppy and the final eliminator has been fought.

As for the last options - never going to happen

Ah - here we go - Kessler would not fight an eliminator with the WBO; he'd fight directly for the vacant title against Braehmer.

We have our answer! Well done, Faetter_BR - you da man!:yep

"Never going to happen" is a bit much...who knows, maybe Lucian gets a bit better. Then, he might have a chance, not big, but pretty much as big as Mikkel had against Joe.:rasta

Well in boxing anything can happen - and yes Bute has a good chance - but I'll put my money on Kessler (again) :)

Main questions are - how will Kessler fair after the defeat (we've seen boxers fade after their first defeat before) and can Bute progress. As for the last part I'm a bit concerned for Bute - in my book he isn't getting better - it's like his development has slowed down a lot. But well - hopefully we'll get the questions answered the ultimate way sooner or later...

His development has slowed down? Hmmm...well, he didn't improve a lot between Bika and Berrio, that's for sure...:think
