Yeah looking at that I think it came across wrong. The Klits would have been deeply in the mix however I don't think they would have been active/dominant as long as they have been now. They are top level guys in ANY era. I can't say as much for many contenders today.

    Wlad due to punch resistance
Vitali due to injuries and brutal cuts

Problem is the size issue for the right or wrong of it, their legacy will always be second guessed because of it.

That's the point of pound for pound, is it not?

Wlad is very athletic if he were scaled down he'd have better agility, speed etc

This has to be the logic, it's the reverse of justifying Pacman's P4P status as partially attributable to his power.

It is not possible to compare Wlad to Manny without putting their attributes in some kind of context ie "excellent skills for a heavyweight" should place him in a P4P discussion, no?

I am too. P4P wise, there's no heavyweight fight out there than can elevate either Klitschko into the top 10 P4P list except for a fight with each other. Why should either Wlad or Vitali be in the top 10 when they refuse to fight each other? I didn't know you could duck the champion and still expect a top 10 P4P ranking? When the hell did this become okay? Likewise the champion ducking the number one contender.

Or to look at it another way, David Haye is the third best heavyweight boxer (according to The Ring) with wins over...

    Ruiz (who's way past done)
Valuev (arguably lost to a 47 year old Holyfield)
    Barrett (never was)

He's considered the 3rd best heavyweight today.

The heavyweight division is damn near a joke. Wlad and Vitali aren't really rated because the heavyweight division itself is near the bottom of boxing divisions out there.

Edit - Damn, Adamek is ranked number 4 already? Wow.

I think the largest stumbling block to establishing what the consensus P4P looks like is the fact that there doesn't seem to be a consensus definition of what P4P means.

For those that say neither Wlad nor Vitali deserve to be in the top 10 pound for pound right now, how many fighterswould rank above them and what are their names?
How far down the list do Wlad and Vitali belong in your minds?

pretty much. we all have our own criteria. simply put for me, who are the 10 best fighters in all the world? They can all be at welterweight for all i care. Wlad is possibly the most dominant champion in the world, gets the knockouts, is the only champ i know of that has consistently fought top 10 ring opponents (in his division) and the number 1 ranked fighter in at least one of the organizations. and knocks them out almost every time. he's earned top 10 more than guys with one big/good win and a whole lotta sitting on their asses (caballero)

The main problem with the Klits and especially Wlad, is that his true talent is not taken into consideration as much, the way it should, because of his natural size. He may have an ordinary chin but like Nazeem said, the man can really box for a heavyweight, big man or not.

Like someone previously said, if he was American, he'd easily be in the top 10 P4P by now...
