because margarito said he wants his ibf belt back, so he will fight judah or clottey next, then he'll have mandatories and probably want to avenge his loss to williams

I don't think Cotto wants it . . . nor does his babies' momma. When they showed her ringside she had the Rocky IV look in her eyes. You know the one, "You've seen him, you know how strong he is . . .YOU CAN'T WIN!!!"

Thats good to hear, it's a shame he was forced to give up his IBF belt but if he can it back & hold two thirds of the title that would be great. A fight between he & Clottey would be entertaining. Then he can attempt to avenge his loss over Williams. Then maybe late next year a fight with Berto for the undisputed crown could be on the cards.

    Agree:good

Margarito has the wrong style for Cotto.

Margo appears to have trouble with slicksters (Daniel Santos for instance - the natural weight thing probably helped Santos here as well; Cotto's improved his ring saavy skills but he still is a boxer-puncher in essence and gets caught with punches)

Margo also has trouble with guys who can match his workrate (Paul Williams for instance - although I had Margo edging that fight, and he probably would have had Williams out of there if it had have been an old 15 round contest. Cotto likes to take time out in fights - breathers - like he did against Judah and Mosley. Margarito didn't give him any breathers and just kept on wearing him down with relentless attacks on the ropes. Cotto had trouble with this against N'dou at LWW, and the scorecards were closer in that fight than they should have been, due to the fact that N'dou took over the latter part of the contest. In hindsight we should have seen that Margo is a bigger more skilled version of N'dou, and hence his style would give Cotto nightmares).

A rematch would be something a few fights down the track assuming Cotto successfully rebuilds.

margo-williams is the fight i thikn should take place.both men have the claims for the top welter now.

both high workrate, both awkward and both commited body punchers. also it seems that williams has picked up some power using the left uppercut more effectivly.

Probably because they are both tired and sore as ****. Not to mention like others have stated this would be a rematch better seen after both fighters have fought other competition first. I want to see Margarito fight Williams again as well, as I was somewhat surprised by the outcome of the first fight, and I don't think Cotto is the type of guy to rush into a rematch of a fight he just got **** kicked in. He seems smarter and more calculating than that. I just hope he rebounds and improves and a rematch comes sometime in the future. Just gotta have some patience; which isn't always easy eh!

If these fighters rematch, there is a good chance that Cotto's career will end on that night.

If you are a Cotto fan, you better hope Miguel never fights Margarito again. Think Chavez-Taylor II, or Margo-Cintron II.
