Exactly right. Nobody who has any kind of warm feelings towards Cotto would want to see him fight an immediate rematch and see his career destroyed within a few months.
Let the man rest, heal, and then start rebuilding.

As for Margarito, he doesn't need an immediate rematch either because of the many other good options that the WW division holds. Personally, i would like most to see Margo-Williams 2, but Bob and Dan aren't getting along lately and if Williams is really moving up to 160 to fight Winky, i don't know if he'll drop all the way back down to 147 again, especially if he wins.

Margarito against the Clottey-Judah winner (most likely Clottey IMO) or against Mosley would be great fights, although i really like Mosley a lot and i think he should retire, cuz he has had a LOT of hard fights and has nothing left to prove. I don't know if anyone should encourage the possibility of a 37-year old Mosley going in there and taking the kind of punishment that Cotto took last night.

So i guess it's mostly comes down to Clottey or Williams for Margarito.

A rematch would ruin Cotto, Margo is just too much Mexican.....he is a freak of nature.

i think cotto would bounce back in a rematch but first things first hes going to have to regroup they way he rushed out the ring afterwards so quick was sad to see

Because the outcome would be the same. I don't see it any other way. No adjustment can Cotto make that could make any difference.

Great fight, but I see no need for a rematch (which wouldn't live up to the original anyway).

Both fighters came in the ring in peak shape, threw everything they had at the other guy, and one guy won, in emphatic style.

Just no need for a rematch, we have seen all there is to see here, there are no questions left unaswered.

i think this fight definitely deserves a rematch especially since Cotto was easily outboxing margarito for the 1st six rounds.

at the time of the stoppage, i had Cotto up 7 rounds to 3.

this fight definitely deserves a rematch

and i'm sure boxing fans would love to see it.

    I would

I'd love to see a rematch, but I'm also looking forward to seeing Cotto fight some of the other welterweights now.

styles makes fights but i really don't see how that applied here to much... cotto has a style that allows him to have easily beaten margarito if he had kept boxing or moving... and when he was boxing and moving it was an easy fight for him... this fight was more about will and heart... what are u made of... this was the fight that cotto was suppose to show that iron will once again that everyone said he has and he didn't show it.. plain and simple... margarito is a nightmare for anyone he fights but i think that mayweather would eat his ass alive... and for all you that think cotto would still beat mayweather... he doesn't have the stamina to do it... mayweather is a whole lot more accurate then margarito.. and mayweather breaks down the body also which no one pays attention too ... u know the rest

Tony wears him down every time. Cotto threw the kitchen sink at him and the man just kept coming.

Must just be some Cotto haters wanting the rematch to see him get beten up badly again.

Ladies and gentlemen we have a clear result, rematch as many times as they want, Margorito gets to Cotto late every time.

Pretty devastating loss for Cotto. He needs time to recover and maybe an easy fight to get his head together.

Margarito was not one second hurt or fazed by Cotto.
I see the exact thing happening again in a rematch if not more convincingly (with Margarito not respecting Cotto's power and starting much sooner).

Cotto can try to keep on the outside for 12 rounds, but a man can run and back off for some time. He will get caught sooner or later (like when he's getting cornered) and his chin doesn't hold up to Margaritos. Margarito will be more willingly to take 3 shots to deliver one in contrary to Cotto.

Problem is that isnt what Cotto is best at...He tried to use a style that isnt good for him. He isnt use to moving around the ring that much, when he was doing it he was beatting Margo's ass, but there were spots when Cotto looked lost, everytime that would happen he would go southpaw because it was comfortable.
