Do recall that Beterbiev had managerial problems for several years that screwed up his ability to get in the ring which in turn added to his ring rust. I hope they do fight. All it takes is for a sanctioning body to call for it. But the fight has not been made for a variety of factors not the least of which is simple economics. Its not a fight thats going to sell alot. It most likely couldn't be a PPV. Having Clenelos name as an opponent of course will sell out.
I never said I oppose the fight son. In fact it's a solid scrap but bringing it up in the Canelo sweepstakes swirl seems out of place until we know that Canelo isn't fighting either of them. Boxing isn't always, if ever, guided by rational decision making. It is, in fact, guided and controlled 100% by economics, the 'bottom line'. Canelo brings the fan base, the $$$. Nobody outside of boxing junkies know who Bivol or Beterbiev are. I'll wait for the cash cow to make his decision before frantically calling for Bivol- Beterbiev.

I'd say bivols career has been a letdown. Beterbiev just can't get these guys to step in the ring with him. Even most IBF contenders ducked out. Beterbiev wants Bivol. It's Bivol who don't want it.

They have different fan bases. Beterbiev has a largely Muslim and Causus following wheras Bivol is in no-mans land.... This is why Top Rank missed such a big trick with Beterbiev; they could have had the Khabib and global Muslim fanbase tuning into Beterbiev's fights.....even if it was just keeping the guy busy. Look on Instagram how all these Nochi and Kavkas (Russian speaking Muslims) support each other. Their fanbases overlap into different combat sports. Such a wasted opportunity. If these Russian Muslims are going to dominate combat sports then they have a ready and willing fan base who is ready to pay to watch them fight. Promoters - take heed and take notes.
