Seriously, he's a tremendous fighter and has bags of charisma, can play a crowd. Is it just because he is a smaller fighter?

At 1.48 he imitates Mayorga. This guy is class.

It takes time in boxing for you to become a star, but the guy is becoming known very quickly compare to others involve in this sport...

Because hes a smaller fighter. Pretty sure Montiel was his first fight on HBO, its very hard for guys smaller than featherweights to get much attention.

Fought under the radar after the Darchinyan win so people simply forgot about him. He's articulate but would not call him charismatic, he has an annoying self-importance and lacks humor, but the kid has incredible talent so who cares about the personality. Good for boxing and will become a lot bigger.

He's a bantamweight, he's not Latino, and he doesn't have a distinct personality. Hamed was a little guy that wasn't Latino. He had speed and power like Donaire. However, he made you pay attention to him. Not only did you want to see his fights, but you wanted to see his entrances and you wanted to hear his post fight interviews. Donaire is not like that. He could be a star in the future, but he has to make people want to watch him.

He will probably draw around 4k (numbers around are around 3k something in ticket sales) for his event tonight. Very promising for a little guy from CA making his first appearance in the big apple and second HBO showing.

Filipinos don't like his treatment of his father since the Philippines has a patriarchal society. Oh and his wife. They don't like his wife.

filipinos must also not like Floyd's treatment of his father and how Floyd bullies their hero manny pac, but that doesn't stop them from searching Floyd up on google more than anyone else:deal

why doesn't Nonito get the same benefits?

You confuse being loud and flamboyant as "personality".

It is really about being in the lower weights, which historically tells you that you have a hard time getting mainstream attention.

It is in-activeness. He failed to capitalize on his Vic win.

Poor management. Even with the weight and inactivity, he should have a solid base by now from Filipinos and Southwest boxing fans.

Hopefully, he is a late bloomer is the media sense and will get his due.

strong personalities like that get the biggest reactions out of people

Jack Johnson, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather, etc are far from having the most exciting styles inside the ring but sell fights better than any of their competitors

Filipinos don't even know how Floyd Mayweather fights. They only know that this dude Floyd is insulting Manny and that he's Manny's rival.

Please, don't bring those things into this Nonito thread.
