i think donaire is a bit overrated. jorge arce methodically beatdown rafael concepcion and knocked him out a few months ago and donaire was for the most part trying to survive. one things for sure, if donaire goes up to bantamweight he's going to have major problems with any of the champions there.
Donaire did well considering his heavier opponent didn't go through the rigors of making weight... The fight showed a strong El Torito who was 4.5 lbs heavier at weigh-in... This means El Torito didn't even sweat it out to make weight... .
the added weight by concepcion should not have made that much of a difference. concepcion is just a class c slugger who got punished and ko'd by a fading jorge arce a few months ago. if donaire was truly the p4p fighter he is he should have discarded concepcion in a similar fashion. i think donaire is a bit overrated in that the reason he looked so good at flyweight was because his opponents were so much smaller than him. he'll definitely have major problems at bantamweight as i think montiel, agbeko and hasegawa will beat him.
You are 100% correct this was a moronic question--- 4.5 to 5 pounds at these weight classes is HUGE.. Think Cotto to Bradley 147 to 140 and the weight difference is not as pronounced at the higher weights.
And Jorge Arce was beaten sensely by Vic Darchinyan which Nonito Donaire beat in a one-sided KO in the 5th round. :hey Although, I will agree with the last statement. :good
King Kong would have him on his bike the whole night and Montiel would knock him out. Nonito needs to go back down to flyweight and pick on some more little guys.
