In my country, we acutwully look down upon Olympics as inferior boxing program, expononent of circus by comparison. But here we see so many argument where the forum talkers argue that their fighter or their fighter opponent are from this medal in the Olympics and how great that art but so and so is no good because of whatever and nobody care about decisive boxing anymore.

Curious to ask, what country are you from?
If you look at the stars in pro boxing now, more than half of them have had Olympic experiences.

Just a few medalists who have held championships or are champions rn. I agree it isnt the test for greatness, but it is a sign that he can be great.

It's quite a quick route to Olympic gold, some get through by good fortune but others are the real deal.

Olympics is amateur boxing, you wouldn't call anything else amateur to be good. Like amateur plumber, I much rather hire a professional plumber, or amateur doctor...only professional boxers who went to school and got their degrees are any good.

I am hesitation to say because to be perfectly frank with you, I have enemies who track my website page activity.

Aye, but you are just name people who happen to have medals from the institution. But my contention is not that it holds you back or anything. I just wonder why anyone thinks it is important. It is like, if it were such a sign, then all of the failed medalists and big time pants participants would not falter as they do. It is like high cholesterol. They say that it matters but some people die and some people don't with heart issue and what difference? They only say when it they want it to prove problem but not when there is no cholesterol "problem" when they die of heart issue.

    Indeed. Indeed.

Same as other comment. From the one above the one before you.

THANK YOU. So true, Goose. So true. Why the value?

Tbh, I dont care at all about olympic medalists. It is a guarantee for nothing. You have campbel, who was a good medalist, and you have canelo who has never ever stepped in an olympic ring.

You know what I care? I care about guys who started pro at 15/16 and who are still in the business and fighting the best at 2x. The filter is brutal with them, if you ever hear of them then they are guaranteed to be big mofos. Not because you are better if you turn pro at 15, but because you are brutally filtered without any mercy, if you survive, you are no doubt a tough mofo.

Medals? meeeh, well, I accept it could be a hint, but nothing else. I couldnt care less.

    Exactly, Jackal.

It is 2021, my pal pal. You had to compile a list including man in his 84th year of life. This is not in your favour, my guy.

@Boxed Ears my guy if you wanna talk solely about recent times then Ok let's do that lad.

    Lets say from 1996 onwards

    Olympic Medalists
Oleksandr Usyk, Vasily Lomachenko, Wladimir Klitschko, Floyd Mayweather, Andre Ward, Gennady Golovkin, Anthony Joshua, Antonio Tarver, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Alexander Povetkin, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Sultan Ibragimov, Deontay Wilder, James Degale, Ryota Mutata, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Andre Dirrell, Andrew Golota, Yordenis Ugas

(And obviously there's loads more elite medalists from ex soviet union countries and Cuba who never went pro)

Why 1996? This is over a quarter century time span. That is the half life of a human being in my village for average life expectoratency. You are touting Deontay Wilder, bobo. And Sultan Ibragimov. Is this something you thought meant something? Oh me oh my, kiss your dog and let your birds fly. As my grandmom would used to say.

Olympic medalists typically turn out to be good professionals. Not necessarily champions, but solid pros.
