Why is Ortiz always so happy after a loss?

it's to do with his upbringing, it's a defence mechanism, it's like people laughing and smiling when nervous, you automatically go against (away) from whats causing you discomfort, He doesn't know how to deal with it properly. He also ain't the brightest guy around either. Just my Opinion

Because his thinking is that the joke is on us...

He is getting $ Bank $....more so than he ever dreamed of for simply doing only what he knows to do!!!

He is living his dream....why should he be upset with a loss? :D

Maybe thats his way of coping? have you ever been in a fight and lost? The pain is unreal to the heart.

It's a coping mechanism, a front. That, and the dude just made a half million dollars and will be surfing on a beautiful beach in California the next morning while you're slaving at a pay-nothing job. I'd laugh too.

Normally I would say it's a front, or the fighter is happy about the payday.

With Ortiz though, I tend to think the guy is just on another planet.

I'm speaking solely about the Mayweather fight here. It's tough not to be happy when you're walking away with an extra 2 mil in the bank. I know it was less than that after everyone got their cut, but still. It's not like Mayweather embarassed him that night either. Even more of a reason to smile.

  14. Honestly... I think Ortiz is just a generally happy and upbeat individual. Every time I've seen him try to be serious I can tell he's having difficulty keeping a straight face.

Some people clown him for his ****-eating grin but I think it's because he's just stoked about his life... win or loss.

It's both his strength and weakness.
