Why is Pacquiao Marquez I not considered a clear win for Pacquiao?

Pac had 3 knockdowns in round 1. He threw more punches, landed more punches. He landed harder punches (he punches harder than Marquez). He was the aggressor.

Marquez did land some clean shots, but you never got the impression that he could hurt Manny. When Pac landed it hurt. Bottom line it hurt him bad. There was a reason Marquez retreated constantly and did not fire his punches first very often.

Because over half of your reasons isn't how a fight is scored...

LMAO. Hitting your opponent with hard punches isn't a huge part of scoring pro fights?

Do you not get a point for making a free throw too?

I had Pac winning the first by 1-2 points, courtesy of the knockdowns. It was easy to give Marquez more rounds based on how well he came back from that horrible 1st round (think Ward Kov) but it's not like Pac stopped fighting after the 1st round. I also scored the second fight to Pac by the same margin. JMM got his revenge in the next two.

You're right about people over valuing Marquez's work after the first round. That was noticeable in the second round. Merchant says Marquez is "making the stand of his life."

Yea he wasn't getting finished, but it's not like he was doing something. He was still retreating. Still getting hit with harder punches. Still less active.

But he wasn't getting plastered again. I guess when you look at it that way you can see how the less active, less aggressive man can win.

When was the last time you watched that fight? I took the liberty to watch it before I commented on your post. You probably should watch again because it did not go as you are describing.

First fight for Pac, second and third for Marquez. I don't think two and three were particularly difficult to score either.

Marquez just had his number. The winner of all these fights though were the fans.

Not what I meant.. If we both throw a punch as hard as we can, they're or should be equal value.. If you're naturally stronger or hit harder than me, it wouldn't be fair to make yours more valuable...

The first should be considered a Pac win officially since the swing judge admitted their scoring error cost Pac a win.

Plus even if it was, throwing more or landing more doesn't decide who won the fight...

The first should've definitely be seen as a Pac victory.
The other two were even fights, best just seen as 'even'.
    The final one, well..

What do you mean? If you punch harder you're automatically favored in every exchange? You don't get rewarded just because you're stronger than your opponent.. You want everybody to just throw haymakers at each other to woo the judges?
