Because he's a fighter and fighters like to fight, combined with it being an all time great boxing card that he wants to be a part of?
If he doesn’t fight it’ll be over a year since he last fought so he after working so hard training all this time he wants to fight and get paid.
Dubois would be lined up for Usyk still even if Parker didn't fight at all this weekend. Parker hasn't fought in almost a year now so he needs to get in that ring, and keep boosting the rankings and Bakole is a great opportunity to do so.
If he wins then Parker has scalped Wilder, Zhang and Bakole which cements him as the bag man in the division right now and still puts him in a good place to fight Usyk or Dubois (depending on what has actually happened there) and challenge for titles. Fair f*cks to Parker. He has never ducked a fight. And good on Bakole for taking the opportunity to show that he is legit.
He should get a nice pay cheque boost for taking on Bakole. But I don't think money is the reason he is taking this risk. Think after a full training camp he is just ready to go.
...and if Parker wasn't willing to risk that he wouldn't be a fighter, he'd be a businessman who boxes. What part dont you understand? Jesus.
I caught the news hours ago outside of this site. Very disappointed. However, if Bakole is the sub it's still a BIG HW bout. I'd have liked to see Martin B in vs. AJ, ZZ or others, but this is a first rate fight. It's more risky for Parker than Bakole. Joe has been preparing for DD for months and Martin is no slouch. If Martin loses and gives a good account of himself, it doesn't push him back much at all. In any case, I'm rooting for Joe Parker.
This isn't the fight to be asking why. The Shakur fight is what people should be asking why is he still fighting when his opponent is utter ****.
