Why is Pavlik a more popular fighter in the U.S, then say....Chad Dawson?

I'm probably opening myself up to a firestorm on this one but me and a couple friends (of different races) had this discussion a while back. If a fan of mexican decent is able to identify with a mexican-american or mexican fighter (i mean just look at the attendance of the recent Margo-Mosley fight) or if a fan of african-american decent is able to relate to an african-american fighter that made his way off the streets then that's just seen as normal (as it should be). However if a white working class fan base identifies with a white working class fighter (hence making him popular in some regions) then its seen as the "race card".

Your very last point is one I was about to bring up. Pavlik has been well promoted by Arum, and it was easy to do with the regional support Pavlik recieves.

Isn't Bad Chad with that pig **** Gary Shaw?? Shaw don't do **** for his fighters it don't seem like, get em' on ShowTime, that's not bad, but still. He cares more about his new "girlfriend" MMA, than his long time wife (boxing).

pavlik is more popular for the simple fact that people come to see knockouts while i have a boxing background and can appreciate dawsons skills and do not find him a boring fighter at all the fact of the matter is he aint knocking anyone out pavlik knocked the **** out of zertuche than destroyed miranda and then got up off the floor from the taylor fight and utterly demolished jt and you ask why he is more popular i think that says it all

i like that, you should be a poet my *****...

but other then that, i agree with what he said, As far as promotions go

    Arum > Shaw

but yeah to sum this all up, there are a loonng list of reasons, some good ones, others? not so much.....some aren't Chads fault, then others are

but in the end, i'd say Mayweather promoted the hell out of him last year, when he said "Dawsons the #1 fighter P4P"...promotion don't get much better then that, and Dawson's been a hot topic since then

i'd say Dawson has a very bright future, while Pavlik has some work to do b4 he regains any of his status, much less builds on it.......but that's another topic

I have no idea why Dawson isn't more popular than he is. The guy is very skilled and exciting. I think he should have more fights in the New England area. With that said it really tells you something when a limited and flawed guy like Margo can sell-out a arena but a legit P4P talent like Dawson can't draw flies.:-(

Monstar...Good points. I have liked Bad Chad too, since the first time I saw him. Can't deny skills.

Good point on PBF mentioning him as P4P, that's like you say, as good as publicity could get. I can't get my finger on why folks don't go nuts over Chad. He DOES KO dudes, quite often really. You know how it is though, boxing fans memory only goes back 5-6 months tops, or "what ya' done lately" is all that matters. Shaw's got a got damned Diamond in Chad, and if he don't get him out in the right light to shine, Chad needs to do it himself. I guess. **** it, I don't know ...to tell the damn truth.

I'm suprised Dawson isn't more liked, I mean he wins fights whilst getting dropped all the time

Exactly. Why the **** ain't Shaw having Chad in New England area, promoting him there as "THEIR" champion. That's what people want. But no, Chad's on cards down in Florida where he gets ****in' booo'd on his ring walk. ******ed as hell.

Shaw might have something to do with it. He does nothing for his fighter's careers. Dawson should think about buying out his contract and signing with GBP or Arum.
