He's 6'2" and weighs between 218-226 lb. Some people call him chubby but i don't really understand why: This content is protected This content is protected And you can see more here (unfortunatly they're not linkable directly): http://www.viewimages.com/Search.aspx?mid=53054487&epmid=2&partner=Google It is true that he doesn't look ripped nor does he have a six-pack, but he doesn't have the bodytype for that. Marciano trained his ass off but never had a sixpack either. He is in great fighting shape without flap around 220lb. By comparison, Muhammad Ali was 6'3" (6'2.5" according to some sources) at 215lb when he was at the same age as Povetkin is now. Holmes was 6'3 213lb. So why is Povetkin being referred to as a "small heavy" while Ali or Holmes never gets that honor?
Because HWs now are generally much bigger than they were in Ali's era. It's all relative. 215 was about average back then, average is closer to 245 now.
He is not small but may lack the physical definition to impress at first sight. But so are World Titlists Sultan Ibragimov and Ruslan Chagaev, their heavy punching and the necessary skill to go with it does the talking for them. There is a tendency to consider small or short anything but the Lewis, Bowes, Vitalys, Wladimirs, Valuevs and similars but that is erroneous... Size should not matter as much as punching power and resilience but there are limits to it, a fighter should know which style to follow based on his reach, height, weight and technical skill always compared to others. Sasha Povetkin is a high class puncher, a commited, murderous puncher I would say but he is not small, just green...
Isn't it obvious? He is just relatively small when you take the big boys of the present and recent past into consideration. Vit Klit Wlad Klit Shannon Briggs Valuev Lennox McCline etc.....
