Why Is Pulev So Avoided If He's Average?

    Please explain...
He's got no power they say, he's only a jab, he's overrated, he's slow and what not...but when is time to face him most of the usually loudmouthed heroes ala Fury and Chisora are quiet.

    How so?

Is he really average or do they see in him something others don't see?

In reality, he's a bona-fide top heavyweight. He'll be Wlad's toughest opponent in years.

He's only "average" to the people who have something against Eastern European boxers.

he seemed kind of ordinary against thompson. maybe it was the lay off. but hes got all the tools to be great. height, reach, chin and so on.

See this is where the logic crashes and derails.

    His power IS his jab.

Look at how many super heavies got JTFD if not JTFO by Pulev. :bart

Who says he's over rated? He is quite simply the best HW not called Wlad in the world at the moment.

The only HW I have ever heard talking about fighting him was David Price.

He's certainly not average, but he is overrated by many. He's avoided because he's one of the top 5 HW's on the planet, and he's not financially lucrative to fight (hence Fury turning him down for Haye, since Haye was a similar level threat but vastly more lucrative). That said, he's basically a poor man's Klitschko, especially Vitali. He relies on his size, jab, reflexes, and ability to wear opponents down. He's demonstrably weaker in all those areas that the K's. He's smaller, less powerful, less active jab, much lower ko percentage. He is more like the K's than any other HW, which puts him solidly in the top 5 and along with his lack of financial draw, ensures he's avoided. But its just inconceivable that a poor man's K could beat Wlad unless Wlad suddenly falls off a cliff in decline.

High risk fight. The reward is not actually that low - he's putting his mandatory position at stake.

Fighting him is not financially attractive because of the lack of huge fan base. He could offer a good opportunity - IBF №1 spot, but nowadays boxers are looking at $. I think if he face solid and very offensive boxer and put him constantly under pressure he ll loose not only by Wlad. I thing Povetkin stands a good chance against him. I believe even Wilder if manage somehow to hit him properly will break him down.

Though IBF №1 spot means atleast a million. If leapai is getting around 2 mil or more, then why not Pulev or somebody else?

To me, Pulev is the best heavyweight outside of Wlad and Vitali

Pulev will twat and thwart Wlad with movement and that jab till he's sucking badly for air.

I don't think Wlad is going to take that fight.

I'd like to see Pulev vs Fury / Pulev vs Haye or Pulev vs Wlad.

Pulev is a strong heavyweight who would give HELL to Wlad.
