Why is Ricky Hatton on the p4p list but not Paul Williams?

I have no agenda. I'm British.

I want to know what Ricky Hatton has done to be deserving of a top 10 P4P spot. He struggled against Lazcano, looked like **** at 147, was knocked out at 147lb, and recently defeated Paulie, a fighter who lost convincingly to the first world class fighter he fought.

I like Ricky. I like his attitude. But Williams has beaten Margarito, Quintana (quicker than Cotto), and has moved up two weight classes and is still knocking fighters out, albeit C level fighters.

Even if Williams is not on the list, I don't see why Ricky is deserving.

    Somebody tell me.

If you look at the recent thread discussing P4P lists, Hatton is on the majority of lists. This thread is targeted at those people. I want to know why he is so deserving according to the majority - and it is the majority.

Ricky Hatton beat Tzyu in 2005.

He has done nothing recently to warrant a place in the top 10 P4P.

    True or false?

    Beat title holders.. Urango

Castillo was p4p 10 at the time ( I know)

Beat consensus number 2 in the division.

Beat a good fighter in Collazo at 147

Got beat by p4p number 1. at 147

When did Williams beat a p4p fighter last?

Just because Tzsyu was a while ago doesn't make it not relevant. Should we forget Pac-Barrera? No. It adds to the resume and that win is head and shoulders above anything Willaims has done.

People use the fact that he has dominated his weight class for so long, nearly 4 years now since he beat the man as justification. He's unbeaten at 140lbs,beat Tsyzu and went on to unify titles there and stepped up and won the WBA welterweight title albeit dubiously. His only loss was to the best and he has a lot of past world champions on the slate.

There are also reasons to not include him I do agree with you on that

    haha yup.. dunno how.

This was ring of course.. I can't speak for anyone other than what the ring was. But that is generally regarded as the best and most objective.

A P4P list in my estimation should account for recent form and recent achievements. Should Margarito be kept on the list because he beat Cotto, despite losing his last fight? Of course not. Should Oscar De La Hoya be on the list because he arguably beat Tito Trinidad, despite losing his last fight? Of course not. Ricky Hatton looked like **** at 147lb, beat a shot Castillo, and lost by knockout to Floyd Mayweather. Since that fight, he failed to vindicate himself against Lazcano, a performance that surely would have removed him from the list.

Does his win against Paulie make him top 10 material?

To me he was shot and I heard that his purse went to the Corrales family.I think its a good name to have on the record and there a few on his record but I thought it was widely accepted that JLC was past his best

    We're talking 2005 again. :patsch

    Recent form and recent achievements.

Beating Paulie is not enough to life you onto the P4P list, in my estimation.

Williams not being on that list is criminal. A guy who doesn't deserve to be on that list is Rafa Marquez the guy has two straight losses to Vasquez and hasn't won a fight in over a year. WTF is he still doing on the list? Williams deserves to be there. He's the definition of P4P fighting from 160-147 knocking people out and feared by all at 147.

Hatton deserves to be there more than Rafa does. The man at 140 losing on to the P4P #1 fighter and wining a title at 147.
