Why is Ricky Hatton on the p4p list but not Paul Williams?

For me yes. He dominated the number 2 in the division.Say what you like about Paulie because hindsight is a ****ing wonderful thing. People were saying he was to slick for hatton.. boxing experts were split etc etc

When did Paul Williams dominate number 2 in his division? (I know 147 is stronger but that doesn't bar the fact he never has even came close to doing it. Or exerting himself to number 1 status)

I actually agree - even if I did have Rafa in there. I think the P4P list is flawed. I think it should represent recent form and achievements, and as you said, Rafa has lost two fights consecutively. Hatton has only really defeated Paulie. Is the standards lowering?

People are so critical of Hatton, you can look at him two ways but you have to admit he has a solid resume..

Boxing is about who you defeat, not how many titles you win. Anybody can become a Welterweight champion if you have to beat Carlos Baldomir to do so. Let's be honest, now.

Paul Williams beat Margarito, vindicated himself against Quintana in spectacular fashion, and is now knocking out Middleweights.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, let's all forget Paul Williams, but why Ricky Hatton?

Maybe the Quintana loss has a bearing though he did avenge it

I don't have a list outside of the top 10. Having a P4P top 20 defeats the purpose of having one in the first place. It stands to show who is the top 10 best fighters in the world irrespective of weight.

I am not against Hatton - I hope people know this. I just don't think he has done enough after his knockout defeat to Mayweather to warrant him being held in such higher regard to someone like Williams.

Margo wasn't even on the radar as a top 3 welter. Lets just brush Williams nice little loss to the side then shall we !

    Why Hatton?

Because he hasn't lost at 140, hasn't came close to losing either.

Beat Urango who's looking like a decent fighter and has IBF now.
Tzsyu p4p 3 at the time, was going to KO Hatton early and brutally, had KO'd Mitchell 6 months earlier.
Lost to one of the best fighters of the generation, above his natural weight class, was even for 6 rounds. (turd ref)
Castillo, never been stopped, Hatton done it in 4 in dramatic fashion and he was in the p4p list. Still impressive if past prime.
Went up to 147 and beat a good welter in Collazo who just gave Berto hell.
Paulie number 2 in division, was supposed to give Hatton fits due to style clash, looked impressive stopping Paulie for the first time (something which Cotto couldn't do)

Overall its just a good resume.. I mean who's is better that's knocking on the number 10 door?

I don't think people limit it to that timeframe when they judge.

williams has got the frame for moving up weights (in fact if he wasn't a relative giant he wouldn't get near a world title) hatton hasn't, that doesn't make williams more deserving of a p4p place, that's not how p4p works. you said it yourself all he has beat was margo who hadn't got in the top 25 p4p when he fought him. where as hatton has beaten a p4p #3, a p4p #8 dominated the #2 in his division in his last fight, and beaten numerous belt holders in between whilst never coming close to losing at 140.

It makes no sense for me to include Hatton in the list in 2009 for something he did in 2005. I guess we all have our own criteria. Manny Pacquiao, on the other hand, has stayed consistant. He has avenged all of his losses, and has moved up to knockout his opponents.

Ricky Hatton moved up, got knocked out, and has done nothing yet to warrant him being considered as the 10th best fighter in the sport today.

Would Juan Manuel Lopez not be more deserving at this point, given that he is undefeated, and knocked out Ponce in 1 round? Followed that up with another round 1 knockout to a very good opponent?

If Ricky Hatton moved off the list after his performance against Lazcano, which I hope he did, what has he done since to make him relevant again?

Give me your top ten p4p please.

I can't see how you don't have Hatton in it. Especially with Joe gone.
