Why is Rigondeaux such a big underdog versus Donaire? - how much money did you make?

They have both been fighting at this weight for a while. I'm not buying it, in practice, especially when you consider the styles match-up.

People saw the size advantage Donaire has over Rigo when they faced off and automatically assume that will decide the fight. But it's still a close fight imo.

20 pounds is too much of an advantage he could box at lightweight (prob beat Ricky Burns!), plus the fact Donaire is a huge puncher and is a far more seasoned pro (obviously) than Rigo.

I want Rigo to win though, but both are great boxers.

Not sure. Donaire has just proven more at the Pro level. Rigo has an awesome amateur career like you said but the Pro's is a different ballgame. I'm just assuming here. Rigo is an awesome fighter but I can understand why Donaire is the favorite. He is great as well. Great fight.

So the idea is that Donaire is going to walk him down, beat him up/stop him?

That would be something to see, against a fighter like Rigo who is so fast on his feet and so mobile.

I will probably have to go with Donaire, since he also has a clear size advantage. If Rigo wins though, that would be HUGE for him.

How do you see the fight going, though? Describe the clash of styles.

Well I'm expecting Rigo to be very defensive, trying to counter Donaire. Maybe he lands something big, since he does carry some power on that left. I'm interested to see how aggressive Donaire will be. Donaire carry's the power that can end the fight quick. He'll probably size up Rigo for a few rounds and then start being more aggressive. I'm expecting Donaire to be very careful at first. Adjustments will be made as the fight carries on. I'm assuming Donaire will be the aggressor.

I can see a lot of waiting from both men in the early going; since both are inclined to counter. Donaire is bigger, probably hits harder, and is perceived to have the better chin, so I think he'll take the initiative. But in doing so, he gives Rigo the chance to counter with the straight left. And Rigo, I think, can do damage with that punch.

I think it might be similar to DLH-Quartey, which was a chess-match with brief busts of excitement, that was close on the cards, with a decision that was close and somewhat controversial.

I am expecting Rigo to throw counter single shots, he is still a big puncher, but Donaires chin seems sound.

The DLH-Quartey fight is a good call. I just hope we get to see it live in England.

I don't see Rigo getting beaten up, he is far too smart for that. If Donaire wins it will be a points decision.

Yeah... this looks like the most likely scenario, which begs the question: why is Donaire such a strong favourite, if it's likely to go to the cards, without one fighter dominating the other?

I wouldn't say those odds make Rigo a massive underdog
