Roy was still considered elite when he was knocked out by Tarver and Johnson.

Roy had a solid chin. He took solid shots from James Toney (a few) Toney had enough pop to KO Prince Charles Williams with one punch when he was dehydrated suffering from the flu. Bernard Hopkins was certainly a good puncher at 160 at that stage in his career. Ask Joe Lypsy.

    very weak case.

Toney was weight drained against Jones and therefore had no pop. Who has Toney ever stopped when being out of shape?

For the Williams fight, Toney was in shape. The stoppage also came in the latter rounds after Williams had taken accumulated punishment for several rounds (just as the Nunn KO).

BHop was less of a puncher than Toney, certainly at no stage considered a big hitter at 160.

So Jones had pretty a weak chin, so what? he is still a greater fighter than Toney or Hopkins who proved to have a solid chin even late in their career. it is not that big of a deal.

So show me the fight Roy was in that punch stats said he didn't get hit with one power punch the entire fight.
Its just hating on your part.

Nobody is saying Jones had a Jake Lamotta type chin but to here you guys you act like Roy was getting staggered throughout his entire career every time somebody landed a shot on him but he was sooooo fast they couldn't follow up. Its a ridiculous notion.

Calling it a weak case is a compliment to just how elusvie Jones was. Your right there was not many punches conmecting on Jones in general.

this seems to go into a more reasonable direction now. A case can be made that his chin was not glass. A case can't be made that his chin was solid.

Well yes, he was that good. At 168 I do not see anybody beating him.

When you get starched with single shots like RJJ did, it is clear his chin is not good. He used his athleticism to avoid shots until he couldn't. The big question is whether his jump to HW and back caused the problem or it was inherent.

He did fight a who's who of firemen and bums, along with a sprinkle of dangerous opponents. He certainly missed many career defining fights like Joe Calzaghe, Steve Collins, Robin Reid, Chris Eubank Sr, Gerald McClellan, Michael Nunn, Nigel Benn, Frankie Liles and Dariusz Michalczewski.

Oranges and apples are fruit, that's where the comparison ends. Charles and RJJ are incomparable.

Be would have massacred Steve Collins. Robin Reid got beat up by Maligna who Jones toyed with.
Eubank and both Benn stayed away from Jones.
Darius would have gotten beaten up.
Gerald and Nunn would have been interesting.
