Peds are a much bigger part of boxing over the past 40 years than most people realize.. I am sure we are just scratching the surface with fighters that have tested "dirty"

I am sure many fighters we rate as ATG's used some sort of PED at some point and were never tested or caught. I keep that in mind when I point my finger at the "cheaters"

First thought is that he's arguably the best ever. I guess that might make him slightly overrated for some.

Based on ability, he should be in the top 5 in anyone's list.. The good old eye test is all you need to know, that man was a special fighter in his day, even a blind man could see that.

Resume wise, he underachieved a little.. He had the ability and some of the competition to be looked at as one of the very best ever. Sadly boxing is more of a business, and all the great fights just don't get made anymore. But, instead of people pointing at what he didn't do, look at what he did, he still beat some great fighters, lots of champions in 4 different weight classes.. His resume is underrated a little because people want to put him in the best ever category but can't.

He got the wins needed to validate himself, I think. James Toney was an incredibly relevant fight against one of the Top P4P fighters of the era at the time and he basically stood him on his head over 12 rounds. When you've got another elite guy like James was in or around your weight class, it's business that needs to be handled. Whitaker did the same thing with Chavez, Nelson, McGirt. Hopkins wasn't quite where he would be, but I don't buy the detractions made for it -- I'm saying I think his abilities were pretty well shown in the fight, one that Roy was able to handle clearly.

    The 90's were great. :p

I would be willing to bet any day of the week, Hopkins would rather take the punches Calzaghe landed on his 43 year old body than the ones Jones Jr delivered to him at 28.:yep
