Why is Roy Jones so eager to fight Calzaghe?

I doubt it's the money. I think at this point, he's more worried about his legacy.

But why do you think he is so confident that he can beat Calzaghe? I'm sure RJJ wouldn't be so eager to take this fight if he thought he had little chance to win.

Is it his natural larger size? Is it the fact that Calzaghe lacks pop and that is what worries RJJ more than anything right now? Is he a bit delusional? Is he just caught up in his amazing hand speed and forgetting the fact that his reflexes and legs are shot? Does he think he can catch Calzaghe coming in perhaps like Hopkins did?

What are your thoughts on why RJJ is so confident heading into this fight?

No, its the $. A chance at 10 Mil plus. He's been rumored to have some financial problems due to his record label the last few years.

    Plain delusion

The guy doesn't believe he is way past his prime. He still thinks he is a p4p fighter when I listen to his interviews

    Good guy, crazy as bat****

Because it's a big money fight against the man regarded by the majority as the champ of the division.

Plus i'm sure he feels he can beat Joe, but I would bet the 10 Mil is the main reason.

Money is often a big factor.

Often meaning 99% of the time.

Because winning this fight will give him back what he lost and thats his status as the man.

Is there any truth to the fact that he's had money problems? I've never heard of this.

If RJJ actually DOES win, as unlikely as that prospect is...well, talk about a legacy boost.

I'll see if I can find anything on it. I know there was some articles about it before the Tito fight.

Jones doesn't think he can win, he even said he'd only take it with a rematch clause so if Joe did beat him Jones could fight him again in Cardiff. What kind of boxer talks like that. Jones just wants a share of the 60k gate for his pension

I heard about the rumors in a magazine, either The Ring or World Boxing or something.

They did say that they were rumors, so it's not clear if they are true, but the rumors are that he lost in the "low 8 figures" in the music industry.

    to get the money

  14. EGO-:dealHe probaly feels that he can beat him:roll: Why would he need money he's made Millions:huh
Judging from his last fight with Tito which reeked of horse-****, he get's KTFO if he fight's Cali, he dosen't have the chin Hopkins has, and at 40 years old his speed isn't there anymore, he's gonna get his ass kicked...
