guy barely has 15 fights, only notable win against a 50 year old Sam Soliman who was barely above journeyman status in his hey day.

he seems to be very highly regarded on this forum, somehow as proof that GGG is out there taking the best fights.

I see Boxrec has him rated very highly as well...I'm not sure why really, this seems like the same type of smoke and mirrors that elevated the status of Callum Smith, BJS, Martin Murray and so on and so forth

I know he gave GG a tough fight, but so what ? Charlo beat him too, if he's so great then Charlo should be next up for a title shot at GG no? certainly GG should handle that business before kicking his feet and demanding another shot at Saul Alvarez

    That's where you're going wrong.

Get off boxrec and watch his fights.

Exactly. The only fight he might have legitimately lost was Charlo. He did more damage on GGG than Canelo and Jacobs combined.

He is the only man to beat Jacobs and Golovkin if there was objective scoring.

yep. Kinda like Shawn Porter you can’t just look at a paper with his record. No slight to Canelo but if these guys received the same favorable scoring both would be P4P top 10 and we would be talking about Porter as an ATG..

Word. I would say despite Canelo's judges and PED usage, his boxing skills are impressive.

No his most notable wins are against Tureano Johnson and Jack Culcay. Try actually watching his fights, because he'd have another notable win on his resume if the American judges were fair, against Danny Jacobs.

Shot GGG damn near ruined Dev and then they decided to throw him in against Jermallo after three brutal 12 round wars of the ages in back to back fights, the last of which being the savage pounding his brain had been subjected to by GGG's anvil fists. So that's four brutal wars he's been in in back to back fights and he had over 434 amateur fights too (including his ones in the WSB).

Like I said definitely not a slight he might have put on his peak performance Saturday and to me only Inoue can even have his name mentioned alongside Canelo in the P4P #1 discussion. But he’s definitely received favorable scoring in most of his big fights..

Because if your from eastern europe you are judged completely on the eye test and your amateur resume regardless of how thin your pro resume is

Because he fought better vs GGG than Canelo did in either fight.

This is precisely, factually, and semantically correct.

    Solid performances vs top competition

I dont really care what your record is if you lose close decisions against the best and continue to challenge yourself

Derev has built his standing by fighting on even keel with the best around just like shawn porter

That's basically the rule for every single fighter regardless of ethnicity.

Hell people say the exact same thing about Crawford today.

    They said about Mayweather yesterday.

They'll probably say it about Spence tomorrow.
