First off lets state the obvious, Martinez has beaten no one of recognition other than the drunken mummified version of Kelly Pavlik, now even i know that Sergio was dramatically robbed in his fight with Kermit Cintron, but again who has Cintron beaten of any quality beside the inexperienced Angulo. There are a number of boxing fans that believe Sergio actually beat Paul in the first fight, this is how i saw the fight, round 1 Williams the busier fighter chasing Sergio around the ring basically outworking him, he catches Martinez on the top of his head and drops him, Martinez doesn't complain of a slip or off balance in the post fight interview by the way, he gets up blowing his nose basically getting the cobbwebbs out, he gets up and manages to win the last 30 seconds of the round and drops Williams. It was a harder shot than what Williams lands but given Williams winning the majority of the round and getting his own KD theres no way i can give that round to Sergio Rounds two and three Williams throwing but not landing and Sergio lands some good shots, rounds 2 and 3 to Martinez, I gave rounds 4 thru 7 to Williams from working an effective jab and smothering pressure, Martinez lands a few good shots but you can't win a fight with a few good shots while continuiously being out punched each round, 2 rounds to 5 Williams, in round 8 it was a great round for Martinez he wins round 8, Williams takes 9 and Sergio takes 10, By the time rounds 11 and 12 came Sergio was gassed and all over the place and got outworked, 116 - 112 "The Punisher", which isn't far off from Harold Lettermans card and i don't often agree with that dude, Bottom line Williams won the first fight and Sergio is a good fighter but has beaten only one quality fighter and winning the majority of his fights outside the U.S., now all his fans and supporters are acting as if he has really achieved something, at this point beating Kelly Pavlik isn't a great win, Any good boxer with movement, defense and a lil handspeed beats Kelly, Floyd gets crucified for not "fighting anyone" and maybe for good reason but Sergio fights one A level fighter (not that he's ducking anyone cause he's not) but looses what can be viewed as a close fight and he is the best at 154/160 i don't think so. He's only fought one man even ranked in the top ten thus far at 154 and thats...yea you guessed it Kermit Cintron, his claim to fame, he had a great performance against Kelly and won the middleweight championship but again Pavliks the only fighter currently ranked in the top ten at 160 he's fought, not impressive. Williams v. Martinez II - Paul by wide UD or late round TKO....and the NEW........... :deal
He beat Pavlik, he beat Cintron, and in a lot of people's opinion he beat Paul. He is the best middleweight and is probably P4P top 10. Who can argue with that. Who in your opinion is the best middleweight? Pirog, Sturm?
knocked out cintron came outta nowhere to have the mental strength and act like a champion going toe to toe with williams, and winning the fight in many eyes. I didnt even know who he was before he beat williams Beat up pavlik (so many people believed he was going to be Koed) come saturday Williams lack of boxing skill will prove make sergio prevail
how can you even talk about the Cintron loss like its legitimate even after you acknowledge the robbery. So you gave Williams round 1? what did you score it? 10-9 or 10-8? either one is not justifiable, if there was EVER a time for a 9-9 round it was round 1 of Martinez Williams I. do the rules even allow you to give a 10-10 or 10-9 for anybody?
How so his lack of so called boxing skills led him to victory the first fight, running the whole fight like Sergio did fighting backwards and landing a few hard punches will not cut it son.
i scored it 10-9 Williams, just like some scored it 10-9 Martinez and he didn't lose to Cintron it was a draw which should have been a KO for Sergio, i said Cintron is a nobody never said Sergio lost to him.
he made williams walk into thunderous shots, that aint walking backwards, thats "boxing". i will remember your username, and personally tell you that martinez just schooled williams.
White?? I thought he was Latin, he could be Shaka Zulu for all i care he is overrated to me but he is a good fighter, just hasn't acomplished enough to be put that high up to me.
If anything I think Sergio is underrated. He has great handspeed, an unorthoox style, and has good footwork as well. He beat pavlik from pillar to post, taunting him while doing it as well as cutting both his eyes wide open. This saturday like a poster said before is a fight between two p4p boxers. I don't think Sergio's boxing skills are out of this world either, I just believe he uses his strengths of speed and movement to beat his opponents. This Saturday will be an awesome fight from round 1-12.
Weird how he apparently went from very under rated to overrated, was there a time when he was appropriatley rated? Anyway the OP is an idiot, the guy came to America to stake his claim and gets robbed twice then still wins the MW championship. On Saturday he's going to beat Paul Williams, a very tough fighter himself, and he's going to get all the props he deserves.
Why is it so easy to be P4P, please tell me who has he beaten to be on the level of Floyd, Manny, Benard, etc. Compared to Williams who's beaten Winky, Antonio, Quintana, Sergio and Cintron, opposed to Sergio who's only big name is Pavlik, although he obviously beat Kermit you can't count it because it's officially a draw.
