He's fighting the BoxRec #43 at lightweight, Artem Harutyunyan, who lost his last fight to the guy Gervonta Davis just defeated, Frank Martin.

Why won't he fight a good opponent his own size? He's bigger than Davis, yet he fought smaller men at 130 such as Oscar Valdez and Robson Conceicao until he could no longer drain down to 130.

I think he's being avoided. The only top guy who might fight him is Loma anyone else pretends he doesn't exist.

He's been calling out everyone for a while now but nobody is answering the call. He offered Frank Martin 1 mill to fight him but he said no.

Doesn't seem anyone is really confident about beating him and the ones that might probably think he'll make them look bad, so look for easier fights.

A protected fighter is someone that’s being offered to face tough challengers but declines their offer in favor of easier fights. Shakur is the one that’s been pursuing to fight the top fighters but has been declined. He’s been anything but protected.

The surest sign of a protected fighter is fighting smaller men.

I'm sure bigger guys at welterweight like Ennis would fight him, but his promoter chose smaller guys at 130 or journeymen like his next opponent.

If he's been protected they've done a very and job of protecting him.

He beat the best two SFW fighters in the world back to back.

Since picking up a vacant belt at WBC he's called out every other belt holder multiple times. He's very clearly the B side fighter at LW.

Mainly because fans like you encourage your favorite boxers to avoid him because he’s “boring” (a threat).

This, it’s just too easy for fighters to lose stock nowadays. Fighting Shakur is just a bad move business wise. On one hand, Shakur is good enough to cause an upset, and on the other, Shakur just has that style to make everything look bad and really boring. Win or lose, Shakur will mess with the ability for his opponent to sell his next fight. There’s a reason he’s the only top fighter being shown on weekdays!

I'm starting to like Gervonta Davis more, since he was willing to fight a good opponent in Martin, and beat him impressively. And Davis is entertaining to watch, while Stevenson's style is very negative and his fights are dull.

Stevenson is now scheduled to fight a limited opponent that Martin beat last time out, before he fought Davis.
