Seems to me Showtime's recently been putting together cards that have multiple fights that could be headliners. Why are they doing this? I love it, but how does it make sense for them? I figure its more profitable to water the cards down, as has been the practice.
The best cards today are nothing compared to the blockbusters that Don King used to put up in the 90's, those were some great ass cards the better ones today are decent in comparison.
Haymon has so many fighters that Showtime has to accommodate. Fox Sports 1 is okay for his prospects, but Showtime is the only one who can fork out top dollar. Also, I'm not sure all their cards are "stacked". They essentially spend all their funds on the "A" side, and aren't as concerned about having a competitive B unless he's with AL as well.
To keep me subscribed to their channel so far so good ..I love the stacked cards as opposed to. 1 or 2 fight show like HBO does
i always think hbo and showtime do a good job of puttin on solid cards. showtime tho has more triple headers tho n they put boxing on fri night which is nice. showtime is better tho.
There are many good fighters around that are available to fight on the big undercards the problem is that they spend almost all their money on the main event and dont leave much for the undercard fighters, with a few exception they usually fill the undercard with a couple of name fighters fighting scrubs, also it doesnt help that some of the more well known fighters today are overpaid a good example is Broner that gets paid more than 1 million to fight a guy like Carlos Molina compare that to a past great fighter like Ricardo Lopez who was a much better fighter than Broner and who probably never got paid 1 million or more in his career and thats one of the problems of today with fighters getting paid more than they deserve. If fighters today were paid accordingly to their talents and to what they really deserve there would be much better cards. Hell Mayweather alone probably makes more money in one fight than every fighter put together in those great Don King cards of the 90's.
the only reason I have showtime is because of the boxing, other than that they never have any good movies on that channel.
