Spence is nothing more than a prospect right now with the look of a champion. I think he's still got some ways to go before being the best fighter at WW. I think Thurman and Brook are the top 2 guys in the weight right now, then there's Porter, Pacquaio, Garcia, Peterson, Diaz, who are contenders... so it's kind of hard to gauge Spence as of right now, but he does have the look.

Brook is the best light welter, the best welter and in 6 months time will be the best middle weight.

Seriously, nobody other than Golovkin comes close, but even he was getting smashed everywhere until Kell suffered his terribly unfortunate injury.

Because Golovkin has white skin, even though he's from Kazakhstan and is Eurasian.

I believe Spence is the best 147 pounder in the world based off his skill set alone.

Spence will brutalize both Thurman and Porter.

I have a feeling deep down Porter and Thurman know very well they are going to lose when they inevitably faced off with Spence.

GGG doesn't suck but he is sickeningly overhyped for what he has done in the ring and to be honest he could get away with it if he was 26 but he's 34yo been pro for over a decade with hundreds of amateur fights.

He still refuses to take a risk and wants easy money fights, if Spence is doing a GGG at 34 and remains unbeaten he will get 10000x the hate GGG gets.

Spence has a far superior resume at a similar age to where GGG was at!!!!

Jeff Lacey 2. Haha joking but until he beats someone in the top 3-4 he isn't the best. Brook and Thurman are the top 2 right now, but spence is hot on their heels. Interesting that in a interview he hopes brook vacates!

That's what it's going to take to convince me he's Elite.. Really good fighter and I like him, it's Just premature at This Stage To talk about Him LIKE He's THE BEST WW, When there is others who have already proven they are a step ahead, in terms of resume.

I agree, when it comes to resume there are a few who are ahead of him.

Honestly i believe Thurman is the ONLY WW who can probably hold his own against Thurman and maybe win a rnd or 2 until Spence completely stomps him.

That fight ends in 6 rnds.

I have massive confidence in Errol Spence.

Spence has a lot of potential but that is all it is at the moment. He best wins to date have been over the feather fisted Algieri and a 42 year old fringe contender. He has done as expected and dispatched them relatively easy but to me there are still question marks on his defence as he gets hit clean too often. This is fine where he is not concerned about the power coming back but maybe an issue as he steps up. Although, he may still be able up his game and fight with a tighter guard in these type of fights but it remains to be seen...

Who's calling Spence the actual best welterweight already? :huh

As opposed to the best of the "new breed" of young/upcoming welters (can't really term him just a 'prospect' anymore)

Not really. Algieri and Bundu aren't all that superior to Khomitsky and Bouadla. What Spence has that's far superior to GGG at a similar age is promotion.

I am sorry but I rarely see anyone on here saying that about Spence. He has beaten who he is supposed to up til now and has looked good doing it. He has potential but has to prove he is the real deal against some pretty good competition in Brook(if he stays), Porter, Thurman, Danny, and he seems to want those fights also. It is really too early to compare him to GGG.

The issue with GGG is the hype from the fanboys. This does not include his fans who are fans of the sport as a whole. GGG is a very good fighter who is unfortunately in a mediocre division. He did not rise to the top among talented fighters and has not fought any great fighters to warrant the hype. Instead he beat a string of fighters who had no success in the previous era and a slew of no hopers who would not have made it far in the previous era. It happens. You got fanboys on here picking apart fighters who actually are great while calling GGG the GOAT at MW. Thats mainly where the hate comes from.

Brook is better than Spence. Those who hate Golovkin, also hate Kovalev, Beterbiev, Klitschko, Lebedev, Lomachenko, etc., geeeeeeee do I see a pattern here? Eastern European fighters are extremely hated while the haters believe that Wilder is the greatest heavyweight in boxing history..................

You honestly believe that? Personally I have not heard anyone say 3G isn't the best middle weight right now! When things get heated is when people argue G's standing up against the middle weight ATG's! He also gets flack because of the over zealous fans but all good/great fighters have biased fans! Dude is solid! People only ride G to get his fans pissed! Race has very little to do with it!
