Canelo said he didn't want Lara's belt because he said that Floyd was the true champ at 154. So they agreed on 155 so that the belt wouldn't be on the line.
I don't think so either. Could spell the end for him as elite too, because I can't see him dominating 160. I'd look for him to go after Cotto, Mayweather and Manny at these catchweights with some sort of mix for the title, probably.
I also don't see him dominating 160 now, but I do think the combination of more experience and fighting at a healthier weight will lead to a better Alvarez in the future....albeit against bigger, stronger fighters. I can see him having a lot of success with prudent matchmaking. There are potential catchweights with the aforementioned three. Sniping the WBO belt from Quillin is another possibility. I don't like his chances against Golovkin, but Canelo would take that fight under the right circumstances (ie, big unification).
Alvarez's training should've consisted of at least 12 hour days of dancing lessons.. . . . Just saying.
Because this is how boxing is gonna be from now on. Catchweights are gonna be a thing in negotiations for almost every significant fights so that insecure promoters can get some insignificant advantage for their fighter, while enabling fat couchlocked boxing experts to ***** about their favorite fighter being drained by a pound which would've turned that 120-108 loss into a KO3 win for their guy. I don't really care about non-title catchweights, but fighting for a belt at a catchweight is absurd bull****.
