    why?
Green, Bika, Mundine/Geale, N'Dou(based in Oz), Lenny Zappa, Asiku, Medley, Tomlinson, Dib etc etc

why the **** are they giving it to so many australians? is it to try and fool the australian public into believing these guys are legitimately "the best"...?

Put simply, it's the excellent work behind the scenes of their local representative promoting the sanctioning body he's involved with.

All sanctioning bodies have a local/regional representative who promote their 'brand' and obviously the local representative here in Australia is doing his best for the IBO in help facilitate opportunitites for fighters here to win a belt under their banner.

It may not have the 'Big 4' cred, but I don't know many fighters who wouldn't want to own one in their collection!

Wlad has the heavy belt yeah? That gives it a bit of legitamacy at least. The old WBO is pretty Brit centric as well (as a result of he whose name shall not be slandered)

IBO's Vice President is from Australia.
Many of the IBO "World" Titles are vacant, & their rules state generally as long as u & your opponent are ranked inside their top 35 independent computerized rankings system, then they will sanction it as a world title.:yep

Also unlike the other regional titles, e.g OPBF, IBF Pac Pac, PABA...most of the IBO ones are vacant.
If an aussie wants to fight for a OPBF or IBF Pan Pac regional title the likelihood is they will be travelling to Japan or Thailand & facing quality opposition.:yep

Even back in the days when there were only two organisations (WBA & WBC) it was sometimes difficult to rank who was 'the best' in each weight division.

As we've continued to be been flooded with additional organisations and titles it's gotten messier and messier.

There's almost as many belts as fighters these days. So many title fights & belts should be viewed with suspicion IMO.

To be rated 'the best' these days it's very rarely a matter of winning a single belt in any particular organisation, whether it be WBA, WBC, IBO or XYZ.

...and it's why in boxing forum threads there's rarely definitive answers available to resolve arguments.

Because the best fighters come from Australia, so it's fitting that they be rewarded with a belt.

If you don't think Zappa is the best lightweight in the world or Lovemore the best welter, you are kidding yourself.

Jet.. What's your greif with the IBO???? Seriously, I'd love to know.

Rather than casting aspirtions on the IBO, I reckon your own energies would be better placed in NSW Control Board activities. Perhaps introducing some ACTUAL boxing people onto the board might help. The Combat Sports mob in NSW are predominantly martial arts fans..

Its about time these wankers (and I do believe that is the collective term for a group of martial arts fans) were relocated back to the pissy martial arts from whence they came.

Maybe a man of your pedigree can ruffle some feathers Jet??
