Jacobs isn't a journeyman(yet). I think he beats Quillin. That said, i think the reason mw gets tagged as weak, is that none of the top guys aside from GGG has really proved how good they really are. That, and the smaller guys insisting on and fighting catchweights doesn't help. There are some fights coming up that will start to hash that out, as the OP pointed out. There has been very little interplay between all the top guys in the division, who have all seemingly risen independently of one another. Again, hopefully this will be rectified soon thru all the upcoming fights. It has the potential of being considered a very strong division rather quickly.
Quillin is going to KO Jacobs and then probably move up to SMW. Jacobs doesn't possess enough power to keep Quillin inactive. GiGi will keep ducking Quillin to avoid a KO loss.
There are some good match ups at MW but some of the names arent as well known which often throws the casuals, but I dont think that many of the MWs of today would have gone as far in a division with Hopkins, Joppy, Holmes, Eastman, Echols etc, but we will never know. Golovkin looks like he could hold his own, as does Quillin
Golovkin's domination prevents big JMWs from moving up. They and their fans are desperate for GGG to move up.
Because most of the top guys are afraid to fight Golovkin. In the 80s, everyone stepped into the ring with Hagler and took their аss-whoopings like real men. Today, you have Quillin, Martinez, Cotto and Canelo all making excuses because they don't want to get knocked out by GGG.
To the guy's above me why is the onus on everybody else to make a fight with GGG and not the other way around? GGG doesn't even have a resume in the top 50 in the sport, why does he not have to go anywhere, or fight anybody yet everyone must come to him? Seriously who is GGG that everything must go through him to prove themselves, when he himself is one of the least proven guys out.
Sturm :admin Sturm wouldn't last 6 rounds with Golovkin Even Cotto would knock him out Geale already beat Sturm Pavlik and Abraham were tough fighters but i can't see them beating Golovkin I think Abraham will have problems with Murray
^^^ This and the jr. middles the USA know best ( Canelo or Cotto ) want no part of GGG. Well--Canelo if he beats Cotto might fight GGG.
Evidence of said glass? Pirog? You reckon Quillin would have beaten Pirog? It's not that I think Quillin is bad, I just think Jacobs is underrated based on that 1 loss, years ago.
Canelo has been a middleweight for 2 years now. You are in what division you have fought last. And 155 is middleweight. Just like Ward is a LHW because his last fight was at 172.
I agree with this. You have guys like Cotto fighting at MW and holding the MW title hostage, and saying "I'm not a MW" as an expedient to get away with ducking real middleweights like GGG. Canelo is also playing this game of fakery and ducking. And that's why the MW division sucks. The top guys (Golovkin, Cotto, Eubank and Lee) have not fought each other. And they probably never will: Andy Lee is the only top MW who is willing to fight Golovkin, but he is scheduled to fight Billy Joe Saunders who is just a terrible style for him. I expect Saunders to beat him badly and then duck Golovkin just like all those other guys are doing.
