Why is the MW division considered weak?

I diasgree with the poster comparing the talent of the current MW landscape to the times when Hopkins, Pavlik, Taylor, Abraham and Martinez were campaigning in that weight class.

Honestly, if those guys were in their prime, they'd steamroll through the majority of this current MW division. The only guy that would pose real problems is Golovkin, but I don't think he could beat a savvy in prime Hopkins. B-Hop's inside game is way too skilled. Other guys that I think would beat Golovkin are fighters from the 90's like the great James TOney and Jones Jr.

the mw division is weak because

1-cotto isnt really a mw....canelo isnt one yet
    2. andy lee isnt that good....neither is saunders
    3. lemieux aka billy baldwin isnt good
    4. quillin stinks
5 jacobs might be pretty good...

Because GGG is in it, and he's much better than the rest. Him and canelo are the 2 top dogs, and they will face off this year.

The hw,mw, and ww are all totally stacked.. no idea how some of here think it's weak, casuals and the general public are way too gullible and believe anything that makes them feel better.

Those 3 classes are totally stacked, going to be like that for a good while. I don't understand some on here that are calling for GGG to move up.

Move up to fight who??? GGG has a good 3/4 years at mw for many high profile fights. He moves up, he screws himself.. if I were GGG I would fight anybody with GGG weighing what he feels best at. You don't have to really put on all that weight..

He could beat them all at his current weight..
Some are going to make ignorany even more common on here after GGG and canelo have a war..

I see the corner or ref stepping in between the 10th and 12th for canelos safety. He'll still be fighting back but will have taken way too much punishment in a very competitive fight. I see him getting hurt a couple x, maybe even a kd, but will never give in..

Then people here will hold that against GGG when the facts are, both are truly greats, with both having what's needed to be atg's. In my book they already are great great fighters and are climbing my atg standings

I do feel like the creation of additional weight-classes kind of saps the talent from each individual division away. Middleweight would look much better if SMW didn't exist.

I dont think that many of the MWs of today would have gone as far in a division with Hopkins, Joppy, Holmes, Eastman, Echols etc, but we will never know. Golovkin looks like he could hold his own.
