    fly"height" vs welter"height"

147lbs of muscle vs 147 lbs of bone

this fight will happen because this is not heavy"****" ... I don't get the outrage

Because there is a point where being bigger is either neutral or counterproductive and that point is reached in the heavyweight division.

Primo Carnera's 65 lbs advantage didn't do him much against Joe Louis; Chagaev 90 lbs disadvantage didn't keep him from beating Valuev, examples are legion.

65 lbs difference is what separates Joe Calzaghe from Nonito Donaire; 90 lbs separates David Haye from Ivan Calderon. These fights are inconceivable, of course, but these exaggerations serve to illustrate how more significant each pound becomes as you move toward the lighter weight categories.

    That's a truism.

    Just enjoy the RIDE!!!

Anyway, if Pac wins, I am sure that those that those who hate fishnet stockings would rejoice while those that love it would be miserable for the rest of the year (which is not much if the fight is on Dec. 6)

If Pac losses, then the Pacterons would be happy that a welter defeated Pac while the *******s will cry then rejoice that Pac got his millions and could ride into the sunset rich and laugh a lot after realizing how many rode the crazy train.

So all in all, whatever the outcome, there will always be happy person. Not a bad fight.

Oh yeah? That's just according to you. You are getting lost on HYPE. Pac has never fought a live opposition at 135 and you're already talking of the 140 lbers? :yep

Guzman would have a better chance because of his fighting style but Pac? I doubt it. I'll believe that when it happens.

Thats according to me just as much as your opinion is according to you. There's a mentality here in ESB where posters are punished for bold predictions.

You base yours on the history of boxing, where more often than not the good big fighter beats the good small fighter. I base mine also on history, where the great small boxer beats the big good boxer. Pac has proven himself to be great. On top of that I also base it on Pac's history, nobody in their right mind would have thought Pac would someday become 135lb champ nor would he be 130 or 126 defeating some of the names he did.

I have faith in the guy, if im wrong im wrong. I dont need to conform to the popular opinions here to try look smart and logical. PacDBest was nuthugger to the extreme but he was bold and he believed himself. Sorry but 2 years ago these fights with Hatton & DLH would have just been unthinkable. A poll was made on Gatti vs Pac at 135lb and most picked Gatti, bet alot of people changed their minds now.

Thats the problem with you, you can only believe things when it happens. I find that statement quite funny actually, what else CAN you do if it happens? Not believe it and go in denial? Of course you'd believe it when it happens! The whole point were here is to discuss boxing and future fights with possible outcomes, meaning believing a possible outcome BEFORE it happens.

If Valuev vs Ruiz draws no outrage in the size difference then neither should Pacquiao vs De La Hoya.

Henry Armstrong also was naturally in between those weights at Lightweight. Anyone can fluxuate weights... even though there was a bigger gap in between weightclasses back then.

Because both fighters are superstar. If they were unknown fighters, there will be no outrage such as this.
