Well that's kinda my point, what the **** is the belt good for if it isn't for the best fighter?

Pac is rated #1 not Mosely boys and girls

So now that we know that Mosely is NOT #1 and Pac IS

WHY THE **** IS THE BELT NOT ON THE LINE????

This lineal bull**** is just that, bull****. It's very rare to have a lineal champion, let alone making that a prerequisite for the ring title, that's just crazy

Exactly, who cares bout belts, shiiit Mosley or Margarita or Berto can have all 4 WBA,WBC,IBF,WBO belts if they want to, Pacquiao and Mayweather are fighting for Pound for Pound best in the world supremacy, belts don't mean shiit to them now

It really doesn't matter what the ring rankings say in the Mag....but what the actual sitaution is. Shane is known and regarded as teh lineal champ at 147 and he holds the WBC crown...therefore he's the legit WW champ.

:patsch Listen boy, Pacquiao and Mayweather are the 2 best fighters in the world pound for pound, they don't need to fight for a damn belt, they are fighting to see who is the best in the world

Listen boy, you're not understanding the question...nevermind your bull****

If they're the best (which they are) then why the **** isn't the vacant belt on the line.

    NOBODY HAS A DESCENT ANSWER?

Being that Floyd was the last Ring champion, you'd imagine they'd enact the Champion Emeritus type situation for the fight, but I give them credit for sticking to their guns.

They did once allow #1 and #3 to fight for the title - perhaps they should do that again.

If Berto beats Mosley the fight will almost certainly be for the ring belt.

I think they should, considering. I don't know how they have Mosely ranked above Floyd anyway. If Pac's performance against Cotto was enough to put him above Mosely then you could Justify putting Mayweather #2 if not #1.

It should be on the line because the #1 guy is in the ring with the #3 guy, I'd say beating Mayweather would be "earning it inside the ring", don't you?

I think it depends if Mosley beats and looks good beating Berto; even if that happens I think the Ring will decide to allow for 1 Pac and 3 Mayweather fight for the lineal championship 9as they do in certain circumstances). Mayweather was the last lineal welterweight champion so I don't have a problem with the winner of this fight winning the Ring and Lineal Welterweight championship.

Pacquiao, Mosley and Mayweather are clearly the 3 best fighters at Welterweight.
To win a vacant ring belt you need a fight between number 1 rated (Pac) and number 2 (Mosley) or number 3 (Mayweather)
Fights between number 1 and number 3 aren't always for the title but are up for those at the Ring to decide if the winner of the bout can clearly claim to be clearly the best.
If the belt is not up for grabs from Pac v Mayweather than I assume that those at the ring are not convinced that the winner would beat Mosley.
I think the most recent number 1 v number 3 was Wladmir Klitschko vs Ruslan Chagaev where Wlad picked up the vacant belt.

I think the winner of this fight should be the champ of the division, but regardless of belts, this is a huge fight!
