For sure! Mosely would drop and it would be #1 and #2

I doubt that is going to happen but Berto can punch

the lineal championship has absolutely nothing to do with belts, dude. it should be able to be traced back in time: the man who beat the man who beat the man is the lineal champ. Mayweather before he retired was the last lineal ww champ; I think the Ring (as opposed to the ABC's) do the best job of creating a new lineage.

Do you know how to read ring rankings? Pacquiao is NOT the Ring WW champion, it's vacant. Pac, Shane and FMJ are CONTENDERS for the Ring WW champion. Mosley was not the lineal/ring champion after he beat Margarito since Marg is just the #1 contender, not the WW champ. Ring rankings looks like this

    Welterweight

    Champion -----Vacant

    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Shane Mosley
    3. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    4. Miguel Cotto

If there is a recognize ring champion, you will see his name beside or below the "Champion" status. Under him are the contenders ranked 1-10.

I posted the rankings already and nobody has said that Pac is the WW champ, only that he is ranked #1. The question is why isn't the belt on the line

    Can't you read the question?

They only get credit if the ring belt, which neither has, is on the line? :huh

Besides, Mosley has a strong claim to the WW title. It will be a great injustice if Pac-FMJ fight is for the lineal title, especially since FMJ's recent win is against a lightweight, not even in top 15 ring rankings. Even the placing of Pac as number one doesn't sit well.

My thoughts are by the time the fight comes along it just might be for the welterweight title or it could set the winner up to have to fight Mosley - if either one wants to be the legitimized champion !!

In my book, Margo beating Cotto is stricken from the books because of the wraps issue. In the least it's a really big ****ing asterik.

    FFS....:-(

The Ring belt, if vacant, is earned when the number 1 faces the number 2.

Floyd is number 3 in the Ring rankings.

But if Mosley (who is number 2) were to lose to Berto then Mosley drops in ranking and Floyd moves up to number 2, then the Ring Championship would be on the line for Pacquiao-Mayweather.

    Understand???:verysad

Why should it when there is no proof.

The NSAC stated that they provided the wrapping materials and inspected the wraps accordingly. In California, you are allowed to bring your own wraps.

For example, Pacquiao has been accused of using steroids by a number of people already, should his win over Cotto be erased too based on this speculation even though he passed the NSAC urine test? Of course not. See what I am saying?

You cannot punish someone based on speculation and opinions. Facts man, FACTS.

In the Olympics, if you are caught doping you will be stripped of your medals and records. For the same reason, Margo doesn't get the luxury of being safe from speculation. In many individual sports this is the case as with the Tour de France. Hell, whole teams will get banned and stripped.

Using Pac as an example is flawed thinking. Margo was proven guilty whereas Pac has been tested over and over and proven clean.

This is not the olympics, this is a complex system with many governing bodies with different sets of rules.

Margarito was never proven guilty of cheating. Margarito was found trying to cheat and there is no proof that he did anywhere else.

Let me backtrack a little, Margarito was found with illegal pads, but the wraps were never determined to be plaster wraps after being tested, but the pads were still foreign objects.

See what I am saying? :good

Guilty of manslaughter or guilty of attempted manslaughter? Oh dear the technicality?
