He had grown comfortably into 154. Hatton has looked like a runt BOTH times he's stepped up to 147. Just because they both could fight at 140 and have fought at much lower weights, doesn't mean their peak weights right now are the same. Hatton's maximum effective weight - right now - is LWW, FMJ can perform well all the way up to LMW, and who knows, maybe even MW if he wanted to - and still all the way down to SFW if he wanted. That's just a testament to what a terrific athlete he is.
And size isn't all about bulging muscles, you silly ******. :yep It's about how you fit into a weight. In Floyd's case, he wore 154 like a silk robe. Ricky wears 147 like a soggy quilt. Different fighters have different physiques that have little to do with their weight (assuming they are training). Floyd's never looked a bodybuilder but has always looked superbly conditioned - from 130 to 150.
Ok, he was off by a few pounds. He was still strong enough to not get bullied by Oscar, right? He didn't simply rely on his speed and fight evasively the whole time. That shows he wasn't padded down with weight that was dragging on him. He looked perfectly comfortable. And on the other hand he didn't look drained at 130. He's got a very wide target range for his natural abilities to shine, wider than most. Ricky's range is very, very narrow.
You guys sound like a bunch of kids...Floyd will never fight any "kingpin" of any weight class. He will only fight someone in which the style or weight is favorable to Floyd. He has never beaten the best of any weight class at any given time.
Floyd is the most hated man in boxing, everything he does will be downplayed, because people hate him that much. Pretty silly when you actually think about it.
He never fought Kostya Tzsu...bad style match up!! He will never fight Cotto, Margarito, or Mitchell...bad style match ups!! This is why he gets criticized so much. For someone who has so much skill...why did he select to fight Corley, Sharmba, Bruseles, and Gatti at Jr Welter?
I'm refering to jr welter, moron...he is a natural lightweight...no one is disputing that...answer my question at jr welter...you can't!!
Floyd tried to fight zoo at 140 but he sigh to fight hatton, he tried to fight cotto but arum and camp said cotto was not ready for floyd. margarito is not even the best 147 nor is cotto. as far floyd not fighting the at any weight class remeber floyd in liner champ in 3 weight decisions
Casamayor was not clearly better. They split the fights at that weight. Corrales beat him the second time though it was close. As was Castillo Casamayor. But he did not clearly beat either man. Corrales lost the first fight on a defective mouthpiece which is a technically. DONT ever, ever try that bull**** of stating opinion as fact. No way was Casamayor clearly the best of the 4. When losing to the other 3.
I don't believe that he tried to make that fight happen...It might have been too much of a conflict between HBO and Showtime at the time...but it had nothing to do with Frietas.
